Vibrant Abayas making a way back!

IMG_3562IMG_3559.JPGIMG_3564IMG_3702The icy air whistles around my ears, causing my skin to tingle and sting. Fingers and toes are numb, but it’s a good feeling. Snug inside my many layers of clothes, nothing can spoil the overwhelming feeling of being taken back to childhood. The airs smells pure and fresh. Everything seems quieter, almost muffled. There is a sense of serenity in the atmosphere.

But I feel something is missing.

I want to feel more like an individual. I want to show other women its ok to be different, there’s nothing to be afraid of.

Women can show their personality with how they dress, and still be modest. There’s nothing wrong with showing some personality! Winter, a time when the sky is often grey, pairs perfectly with the grey-toned MUTED COOL colors, such as slate blue, winter white, charcoal, mauve, burgundy, and an endless variety of pastels and „icy‟ colors.

Winter’s colors are like a snowscape: icy, muted, subtly greyed, and very subdued. Think of a winter sky: it is a grey-toned blue, much like slate blue. Winter is a time of greyness and cold, and we often withdraw into the warmth and security of our homes. There is less light, because the days are shorter. Winter colors have less brilliancy than the colors of Summer, and their soft tones are also more introversive or reclusive as we often are in winter. When it shows, there is stillness and calm that often prompts us to speak in a whisper. The “icy” and gentle pastels of Winter reflect this tendency.

Winter types should wear colors that are sharp and clear. White, black, navy blue. Shop for navy blue organza fabrics

The spirit of blue abaya is to bridge cultural gaps between the east and the west, to keep an open mind, to see the humor in difficult situations and “thinking outside of the box”.

Just like in any other types of fashion clothing, it is a must that you buy an abaya that is made using the best quality of materials. The most commonly used fabrics used for abayas include chiffon, crepe, silk, satin and georgette. Within the individual fabrics, there are still other types to choose from, including Japanese crepe or Saudi crepe. Be choosy while choosing the abaya!

Colorful Abayas are more in trend! The color makes them more unique & who doesn’t want to be unique. Following the trend is the new Fashion. The colour Blue, symbolizes confidence, loyalty & truth. The material of the abaya is of good quality & best for any season. Something that makes the Abaya special is the ‘Slit open cut’. The way Abayas are designed is unique. Tourists also get inspired by the way Abayas are designed & makes them want to wear too. Abayas play a significant role in Middle east countries.

Colors! You have to Hit this Year!

NaErasescapadesColors, this whole universe is made up of colors. They define mood, culture, temperature, and most importantly seasons.

It’s literally been 9 months since the year 2017 started and it was an exciting year filled with surprises for each and every one of us.

The Altruistic: Pastel Pink

This shade is a sober mix of pure white and red. It represents compassion, love and strength; hence we have given the title ‘altruistic’. It is a color of all seasons. When it comes to spring we picture beautiful scenery filled with cherry blossoms. When it is summer we can picture a delicious cone of strawberry ice-cream and when it is winter we can imagine the rosy cheeks of a toddler now that’s cute. Even our favorite candy is the color of pastel pink, cottony candy as cottony as the fluffy clouds. This is an amazing color that can be complemented with different colors according to the occasion. And here the hijab blogger- Rahma, has donned a pastel pink gilet along with a white top and blue jeans. It’s a perfect outfit for a lunch date with your friends and family.

Why Not? Pose with the billard table 🦄 #FashionBlogger 🦄

The Foliage: Army Green

Green is a color of harmony, it symbolizes prosperity and progress. It’s a color which soothes the eye and calms the soul. There are many shades of green such as olive green, yellow green, fresh green, light green and army green. Here we are talking about Army green, a fierce yet promising shade. In context of fashion this color is famous. Camo print is quite famous with youngster nowadays and army green is a perfect color for camo prints. And again Rahma rocked this color as she paired a black Maxi dress with an Army green over coat. This look was perfectly coupled with a brown hijab. This look is a spot on for a cold winter college day!

The Angelic: White

Whether it’s vanilla ice-cream or moving clouds, Shaun the sheep’s wool or a bridal gown, everything looks so pure and beautiful because it is in the shade of white and this shade is heavenly. It symbolizes peace and purity. This shade is a basic shade in the fashion industry. From a hijab to a ring, from a basic tee to ballerinas, this shade is a favorite! Also Rahma the hijabi icon rocked this color; she paired a black maxi skirt with a plain white top along with a printed hijab. This look is our personal favorite 🙂 the whole look is a basic combination of black and white which is bang on! We must say she has a great sense of dressing. And this color is definitely one that you need to hit this year and every following year…its evergreen!

The Allure: Lavender

Lavender is a shade that depicts luxury and royalty. And one can effortlessly look like a princess by simply wearing this shade. This is a perfect shade for ball gowns and Maxi dresses. Lavender is a challenging colour to pull off but our very own style diva – Rahma looks absolutely alluring in a pinky- lavender Maxi dress. And she had beautifully matched this Maxi dress with a denim jacket and a purple hijab. The best part of this outfit is a ring bracelet in the shade lavender. She has used minimal accessories and that is the beauty of this look. Lavender looks as beautiful as it smells. It is a colour which can make you look totally different from the crowd, but definitely in a good way 😉 Lavender screams of luxury and this particular fabric is definitely on the pricey side of fashion market but the gorgeous flow and how it beautifully drapes around Rahma is such a statement piece. Click here to shop for luxury fashion fabrics like this dress.

Zesty: Urban Orange

When we first listen to the very words orange we dislike it we rather think of it as something that is not appealing but when we see it, the very color reminds us of autumn. The beautiful colors of autumn. Not many of us have tasted pumpkin spice latte but thinking about it sounds tasty. Just like these appealing things let’s see how orange-brown can be worn in the fashion world. You can style orange-brown pants with a navy blue shirt or even grey shirt. Here we are back with another look by Rahma, she has worn orange-brown pants with a white t-shirt and a brown hijab to add a bit more style she has worn an orange patterned gilet. This is a very different combination but styling it right will raise eyebrows in admiration!

This was our take on “Colours you need to hit this year!” hope you all liked this post as much as we enjoyed writing it. And do mention which color /shade you love the most. See you In the next post, until then happy styling 😉

40 COLLEGE OUTFIT IDEAS FOR HIJABI

BeFunkyDesignFor those of you that don’t know, I finished my college last year and looking back on those three memorable years I remembered wanting to make a lasting impression and at times tried too hard in the initial days. Each year I got better with my outfits and by the time my college was done I selected the simplest ensembles with a slight edge to make it more interesting. Transitioning from an ‘all outfit matching’ girl to a ‘monochrome lover’, in terms of fashion I learnt way too many things in a span of three years.

We all girls get lazy at some point and my weakness was ironing my pashmina scarves ‘wrinkle free’ in mornings. My first and foremost advice would be to schedule your outfits for the entire week on Saturday evenings. Secondly instead of choosing 5 outfits, mix and match at least 6 in that way your most comfy outfit becomes your life saver on those lazy mornings.

  1. Long tops & Jumpers are your best friends when you wake up late. From baseball Tees to Victoria Secret Sweatshirts you will have so much fun styling them with classic accessories, edgy shoes and the classic highschool backpacks.

2. Layered Outfits: Spring is the most beautiful among the lot, Jeans jackets & burgundy fennel shirts loud & clear are the perfect way to go for the Spring & fall season. Layers have the unique and one of a kind ability to expand your wardrobe and give you the option to wear your wardrobe favorites all year around.

3. Maxi Cardigans & Kimonos: Stores are packed with long maxi cardigans and as a Hijabi I’m thrilled. LONG cardigans from knee-lengths to floor-lengths are massive, chunky knits for winter to thin fabrics & lace kimonos are my ultimate fav for the summers, each one end up giving you an effortless sleek style.

4. Skirts: Maxi skirts are a hijabi’s best friend to be precise, these amazing creation not only lets you feel the most comfortable but ends up being your most cherished item in a wardrobe. An evening party looks to classic boho persona in minutes you can achieve them with this trendy wardrobe essential. My personal fav is pairing  a maxi skirt with converse and jeans shirt, also, skirts make the perfect college presentation attire with a blazer.

5. Nothing can replace the versatility of a classic black maxi dress. But prints are so in this year and everyone is loving them. Plus the long kurta trend or the high slit long tops are going viral all around the globe, so why not incorporate the craze in your everyday college outfits.

6. Cute Dresses: The only dress you wanna wear this season at school is an Ariana Grande-style skater dress — and for good reason. It’s a super flattering style that will really never go out of style. A denim jacket is a back-to-school staple that will come in handy all semester. Being a hijabi pair your cute skater dress with leggings instead of stockings and accessorize with chunky necklaces and bags.

20 WAYS TO STYLE BLACK MAXI SKIRT

A ‘Black Maxi Skirt’ is a staple piece in every hijabi girl’s wardrobe but at times, we underestimate the versatility of this  black beauty. When styled correctly, you could rock a black maxi skirt in every season and occasion. And what I love about Maxi Skirt is how beautifully it works its magic on all sizes and shapes.

Black Skirt for all seasons

Maxi skirt, as we all know, is hands down one of the most relaxed and forgiving items of clothing to wear. What’s so great about them – they can easily be transitioned from an office essential to casual funky college outfit, fancy evening wears to a cute brunch look. All it takes is a teensy bit of creativity to stand out among the rest. I have rocked my black maxi skirt on multiple occasions and you could too.

MODEST OFFICE WEAR: Maxi skirts are so comfortable and modest for the workplace, they are my go to clothing hack for lazy mornings. All I did for this outfit is tucked in a polka dot shirt, a print which for me shouts “OFFICE WEAR”. I finished my look with some brownish gold accessories – a long nude color cardigan instead of a blazer for a semi-formal look, a skinny belt and gold statement necklace to add some ZING.When dressing for the office, the one must have for me is Tote handbags – if you ask me, every girl should own them in black and brown.

Modest Office Wear

  1. Neutrals are the best way to go when choosing for an interview, it gives a sophisticated lady look, but maybe adding an animal print is not everyone’s cup of tea.
  2. Corals and Mints are another way to flare up your outfits this summer and spring.
  3. Mix in the latest fad of flirty flared blouses to your daily outfits for a special shine. Oomph up your grey ensemble with a printed royal blue hijab.
  4. For a relaxed winter look, a plain white shirt is your best friend paired up with a long cardigan and a chunky statement necklace.

COMFY COLLEGE OUTFITS: One staple piece I always played with in my college time was the mighty black maxi skirt. From summers to winter all year round I just loved that flowy cozy feel it always gave me.

Comfy Collage Outfits with Black Maxi Skirt

  1. Every girl loves those baggy-comfy hoodies and sporty sweatshirts particularly the ones from Victoria Secrets paired with converse or flats, they just make you feel so sassy and fabulous.
  2. Jazz up your printed sweaters and boots this winter with a modest maxi skirt. For this look, always ensure your maxi skirt is on point with your height, to show off your boots.
  3. Another popular street style fashion is to put together your fall inspired plaid or denim shirts with a skirt and sandals for a more boho kinda style.

TRENDY EVENING WEAR: Your black maxi skirt is can be your last minute life saver for either a Western or Eastern function. Black compliments all skin tones and the best part is it makes you look slimmer. Here are some fashion trends you definitely want to keep in mind when shopping for your Evening wear this year.

TRENDY EVENING WEAR - HIJABI

  1. Indian Traditional Wear: To bring your A game this wedding season, invest in a few heavy embellished drapes and tops. Sequences and embroidered tops  when paired with black skirt gets entire focus looking absolutely adorable with the least amount of efforts.
  2. For an elegant look, put together a high waist ruffled skirt with a solid color full sleeve top and a heavy statement necklace.
  3. Fashion faithful flare tops make such a quintessential statement this season. They are great for hiding your tummy too.
  4. A fur jacket will add a lift to your entire wardrobe. Tuck in a black tank top to your skirt for a dress like appearance and layer it with a fur jacket for glamorous, glitzy graceful style.

Black maxi skirts – a fashion faithful of Hijabis, can easily be dressed up or dressed down. So stand out this year with this ideal staple piece. Check out my Polyvore profile to know details about each clothing item mentioned.

How do you girls style your maxi skirts do let me in comments below.

Rahma

7 TIPS TO STYLE YOUR MAXI DRESS

Nowadays Maxi dresses are totally in fashion and the easiest way to achieve a modest look. Whether a single colour or patterned maxi dress, they are an absolute necessity in every woman’s closet throughout all seasons. They can be worn as a glamorous party wear to a casual college outfit. The only trick you need to focus is on the details of the rest of your outfit and pattern of your maxi dress.

Maxi dresses come in different material like velvet, jersey or even lace. In this article, I discuss pattern maxi dresses and how to style them.

Jacket: Splash Fashions Shoes: Shoe Mart

Tip 1: Choice of material

As summer approaches, soft jersey fabric is the best among the lot, to wear as that will skim your body, move with you, and be super comfortable – it’s a winner in that hot burning climate. Also, select flowy dresses with drape beautifully over your body.

#Tip 2: Layer with Solids
Always pair a pattern maxi dress with a solid cardigan, jacket or blazer to get different looks. A sky blue jeans jacket gives a perfect casual chic look (people may tend up thinking you took hours coordinating your outfits).

These long cardigans are much in trend. So grab them as soon as you get a chance.

Tip 3: Slightly formal

You could always work up a solid colour maxi dress with a black blazer and belt for a professional look. However, refrain from printed pattern at your office girls.

Tip 4: Balance it out

When dealing with patterns I always try to wear a plain hijab to give more attention to patterns. Try matching it either with the colour of your cardigan or the pattern of your maxi dress.

Tip 5: For petite woman

Select a maxi dress with small, consistent pattern or strips – just keep in mind the size of the print should be no larger than your fist polka dots are perfect. On the other hand, say a big no to anything that divides your body into sections and even to large prints.

wpid-1436676573085.jpg
When you have a multi-color maxi dress, opt for a black, white or neutral cardigans. Focus on matching your hijab and jewellery.

Tip 6: Accessorise your look

Try adding chunky bracelets and rings to your outfit and ditch those huge statement necklace as it causes distractions.

Tip 7: Shoes are Important.

Earlier maxi dress was considered casual wear but today it can be easily transformed into an elegant workplace or party wear just adding heels and clutch glamming up the outfit. Nude or neutral tone are perfect for maxi dress as they go along with the maximum of colours.

All maxi dresses were bought from a local store in Ajman, UAE.

Maxi dresses have always been my favourite go-to item when I’m lazy. So I’ll be posting a lot about how to style different maxi dress. So stay tuned!!

DIY HIJAB PIN HOLDER

You can make a pretty inexpensive Hijab pin holder using stuff already in your home. This is a great way to organise your pins and making sure you do not misplace them.

All you need is IMG_20150705_023147

  •  Sponge
  • Any fabric
  • Cutter or Scissors
  • Fabric Glue, Super glue
  • Stapler
  • A box
  • Thumb pins
  • Ruler and Marker

BONNET CAPS vs TUBE UNDERSCARFS

An under scarf can be defined as a small piece of fabric used by hijabis to cover their head. It is usually worn under a scarf or hijab. It comes in many different shapes, colors and designs and is useful for to keep slippery and sheer hijabs in place.

Bonnet cap is made of a jersey type cotton fabric and is also non slippery. It is placed over the head and fastened at the back using the ties attached at the end. It has a small opening at the back once tied, so you can let the hair through.

5 TIPS FOR STYLING ANIMAL PRINT HIJABS

Necklace : Splash Fashions | Hijab : Cover_33

IMG_20150702_212958-1[1]One of the easiest ways of spicing up a boring outfit is to add up a pattern hijab with it. Nowadays, animal print is quite popular in the hijabi community, however, one must refrain from combining more than two different patterns together.

a

#Tips 1 Restrict yourself from adding accessories and clothing items of the same pattern. For instance, a leopard print hijab, belt, shoes and purse are considered to be TOO MUCH!! Break it up — no need to go head to toe in the same print.

#Tips 2  Neutral colours match any animal pattern. Black, white, nude colours (including  browns and beige) are always a safe bet as they get along with animals perfectly.

a

#Tip 3 Nonetheless one can always pump up their outfit with a ‘pop of colour’. Cheetah print matches beautifully with Mint, burgundy as well as red.

a

#Tip 4 Accessorising with Gold rather than silver whether a gold statement necklace or sandals.

a

#Tip 5 Animal prints should be avoided on professional occasions: offices, business meetings…unless the pattern is small and in softer colours , and not easily seen as to not draw attention.
