Slay it 2017 – Birthday Edition

slay-it-birthday-edition-modest-fashion-dubai-blogger-uae-model-hijabi-desi-blogger-delhi-blog-RED COAT splash fashion olive color hijab boy friend jeansMy fashion sense has always been something between two extremes – Glamorous Diva or Fashion Disaster. I don’t fall into the category of comfy casuals. Either I go all out with matching outfit, on fleek makeup and high heels or I became a raggedy monochrome disaster with panda eyes and slip ons. But I feel 2017 is the year of breaking the rules.slay-it-birthday-edition-modest-fashion-dubai-blogger-uae-model-hijabi-desi-blogger-delhi-blog-RED COAT splash fashion olive color hijab boy friend jeans

“I shall Slay thee with my closet.”

January always feels like the chance to start fresh. Insert FASHION RESOLUTIONs

1.Indulge in Solid Colours

Over the year, I’ve bulked up my wardrobe with quirky patterns & fusion of vibrant colours. Instead, I wanna go crazy on colours like blush pink, caramel & rusty green.

2.Buy fewer things of better quality.

I’m all up for investing in strong statement pieces like Trench Coats, Ankle Booties or Vintage Purse which can stand alone or with a killer outfit.

3.NO to the Lazy Baboon zone

In 2017, I’m letting the Lazy bird go. You never know who you bump into a random shopping trip to the mall. So, I challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone & messy PJs and improve my Fashion Game on a daily basis.

EID OUTFIT 2015

Eid Mubarak to all my lovely ladies.

Peace be upon you all! <3

Here is my first day’s Eid Outift for Eid Al-Adha 2015. Generally I tend to select a maxi dress or long gown for Eid but this year, I went for an Arabian style printed Abaya from Designers Wardrobe gifted by my mommy. The quality, flow and material did not fail to impress me as it was so soft and unbelievably comfortable, perfect for the summer. I wore light blue jeans from Being Human underneath. white flats and my go to Vincci black purse.

FIVE MODEST OFFICE WEAR LOOKS

Once you set foot in the business world, coordinating office attires can be an awfully demanding chore for many. The term ‘Professional’ is much wider in scope than those expensive corporate suits and stilettos whereas in reality it signifies a smart, refreshing and feminine look.

Build up an entire formal wardrobe at the very beginning could be a pricey affair, perhaps a smart decision to invest in a few basic staple pieces like blazers, pants and a pair of stylish yet comfy heels is ideal. Besides emphasis on making more use of items present in your closet – the only trick is ‘how’ to style them modestly. Just a few tweaks here and there to how you pick your office wear is all you need to make an ever-lasting impression.

Five Modest Office Wear Looks

Look 1 – Statement Necklaces

I could never opt for a complete black look, colors defines my personal style. Therefore, I ended up deciding to add a darker berry shade pants and accessorized the look with black lace heels, a printed hijab and the most-favored element of the season – a chunky statement necklace.

Look 2 – Neutrals

When bored of those dull blacks and blues, go for the refreshing whites. No formal pants? Why not use those cuffed pants hanging in your closest or just folded your lose fit colored pants and tuck in your shirt from front and let it out at the back for modest covering. Minimizing the accessorizes to a watch and matching hand bag displays an effortless outcome.

Look 3 – Jump Suits

A solution to a comfy and relaxing attire is that jumpsuit in your wardrobe, they are more useful than you think. Toss on a blazer and some high heels to accomplish a cozy rock-chic look. It’s often said to refrain from any kind of animal print at workplace but as per me a little animal is always fine.

Look 4 – Skirts

If the non hijabi folks rock a mini skirt, then we shall be the brand ambassador of maxi skirts at business meetings. Select the less flowy and layered maxi skirts, tuck in your button-up shirt and finish it with a skinny belt. Steer clear of any vibrant color moreover keep it simple with black, greys and neutrals only. Throw in a complimenting blazer or cardigan and statement necklace to take your style up a notch.

Look 5 – Dresses

In lieu of those boring blazer and pant combos everyday, make an entrance to remember with a tasteful selection of simple knee-length dress. Incorporate a cardigan or blazer, leggings and kitten heels and you are done. An easy going semi-formal look especially for teachers.

a

Eradicate that false perception of formal wear being monotonous and restricting. In the current scenario an office attire is only an extension of your personal style combined with the conventional norms expected at an office. Ensure your ensembles displays modesty, elegance and current fashion trends represented by those stylish accessories. Always try finding out new styles to keep your office look innovative, warm and delightful. Unless you experiment, it will always be boring and regular.

'HIJAB-FRIENDLY' DESI WEAR

Over the years wearing hijab on Salwaar Kameez was quite a challenge for me. I was always very conscious about how i looked in them, I also refrained myself from dressing in Indian wear. But by making some tweaks here and there you may end up even loving them. From a simple sequence top to a full-fledged Anarkali, all your outfits can be hijab friendly.

Desi Look

GLAM IT UP WITH ACCESSORIES: Start from a fully sequenced/glittery top and pair it with a simple black or white maxi skirt. You can always notch up your outfit with your accessories, one of the most popular is the slave bracelets. Lastly, Instead of going for a golden hijab, I paired the outfit with yellow. Similarly, if the work on your top is silver, go for a grey hijab. yO

TRIP TO DESERT SAFARI

One of my favourite combinations to wear any time of the day is Navy blue and White. I have often noticed that hijabs within darker shades of blue go really well with brown skin girls. In this particular outfit, all I did was jazzed it up a notch with few long black and grey pearl chains.

#TIP During summers try wearing sleeveless flowy tops and use no snag hijab pins to attach a shirt or cardigan to the top on both sides of your shoulder.

MY SPARKLING FAIRY-TALE

I wore this fabulous mint gown for my college farewell party. I have been in love with this colour. It is unique and looks absolutely beautiful both in morning and evening events.

Matched my dress with a grey/silver scarf and mint under scarf (a harder shade of my dress). To glam it up a notch I also added a mint pearl hair band.

5 TIPS FOR STYLING ANIMAL PRINT HIJABS

Necklace : Splash Fashions | Hijab : Cover_33

IMG_20150702_212958-1[1]One of the easiest ways of spicing up a boring outfit is to add up a pattern hijab with it. Nowadays, animal print is quite popular in the hijabi community, however, one must refrain from combining more than two different patterns together.

a

#Tips 1 Restrict yourself from adding accessories and clothing items of the same pattern. For instance, a leopard print hijab, belt, shoes and purse are considered to be TOO MUCH!! Break it up — no need to go head to toe in the same print.

a

a

#Tips 2  Neutral colours match any animal pattern. Black, white, nude colours (including  browns and beige) are always a safe bet as they get along with animals perfectly.

a

#Tip 3 Nonetheless one can always pump up their outfit with a ‘pop of colour’. Cheetah print matches beautifully with Mint, burgundy as well as red.

a

#Tip 4 Accessorising with Gold rather than silver whether a gold statement necklace or sandals.

a

#Tip 5 Animal prints should be avoided on professional occasions: offices, business meetings…unless the pattern is small and in softer colours , and not easily seen as to not draw attention.
