Last night I was invited to preview the lavish Iftar Buffet at Sheraton Sharjah’s Al Mudheef Ballroom. The place gets a more traditional Arabic ‘Majlis’ setting for the holy month of Ramadan with a deliciously mouth-watering Middle Eastern Arabic cuisine.
Once you are in you will be mesmerized my the beautifully designed Grand desserts counter ranging from Pastries to Umm Ali, Gulab Jamun to Bokaj each one cooked to perfection. But before the desserts, the wide variety of starters will surprise you in the right way of course.
Always a fan of soups for breaking my fast, I opted for Vermicelli Lentil Soup instead of Chicken Noodle Soup. Just a heads up, both the soups needed an extra pinch of salt.
Though I am not a salad person, yet the salad bar looked excellent covering traditional fattoush, hummus, foul to cold seafood salads it had plenty to offer. Their Hummus was incredibly creamy & yogurt cucumber tiny shots were my favorite.
You get to enjoy a live Shawarma station, but it does end very quickly so try making it your very first stop. Another surprise turn of events was when I saw Sushi platters & DimSums in a traditional Arabic Menu. Who doesn’t like a bit of variety huh?
For the main course, I had two plates full of their White Cream Chicken Pasta. Packed with more of Arabic cuisine, you get the major hits Lamb Okra, Lamb Mandi, Chicken Harees.
I just review the lavish Iftar Buffet at @sheratonsharjah Al Mudheef Ballroom. The place gets a more traditional Arabic ‘Majlis’ setting for the holy month of Ramadan with a deliciously mouth-watering Grand Dessert counter ranging from Pastries to Umm Ali, Gulab Jamun to Bokaj each one cooked to perfection. Enjoy this lavish dessert selection with traditional Arabic cuisine for AED 125 per head this Ramadan. . . . . . . #zomato #zomatouae #zomatodubai #uaefood #dubaifood #iftar #iftarbuffet #ramadan2016 #dubaifoodblog #uaefoodblog #uaefoodblogger #uaefoodbloggers #dubaifoodblogger #dubaifoodbloggers #desserts #ramadankareem #ramadanfood #sheratonhotel #sheratonsharjah #muslimahbloggers #sharjahblogger #foodie
The highlight of our dinner was the exquisite desserts which leave you craving for more & more. It’s the area where the child in me jumps & applauds all the way around. The pastry chef of Sheraton Sharjah was a HUGE HIT among all the kids at the Buffet. The Arabic desserts were on point especially the Umm Ali & Bokaj Pista; however; the Kunnaf was quite disappointing.
My favourites for the evening:
Red Velvet Cake
Vanilla Pound Cake
Bokaj Pista & Cashew
Service: Even though the restaurant was jam packed, the dishes did not seem lacking at all, the staff constantly replaced the buffet dishes. Secondly, they dutifully removed used cutlery, and even offered to bring beverages directly to the table.
Final Verdict: The dessert counter is to die for (I cannot pressurise this point enough that the desserts were AMAZING), yet the main course lacked variety. If you are looking to have a Middle Eastern inspired Iftar, this is the perfect place. The chef offers you authentic Arab food which you fall in love with instantly. However, if you are an Indian seeking spices & herbs to the fullest in your much-awaited food this Ramadan, this Buffet may not be for you.
Iftar buffet at Al Mudheef Ballroom costs AED 125 per person (Group of 10+ costs 115 AED per head) inclusive of drinks and hot beverages. The buffet runs from sunset to 10 pm daily for the month of Ramadan

Few Fridays ago we took the advantage of exploring the ever so charming grounds of Palm Jumeirah and spent the afternoon relaxing at Palm Avenue Bar Grill, a poolside, chic coastal restaurant in the midst of the elegant Waldorf Astoria.
Under the sparkling skies of Dubai along a refreshing and contemporary ambiance overlooking the pool view and beach front is a perfect venue for a leisurely afternoon lunch that features splendid Mediterranean delights with exotic Shisha flavors.
Though their elegant Cabana adjacent to the pool was my initial choice, all of them were reserved in advance. So we opted for their beautiful outdoor terrace, the other options were a vibrant indoor setting or exquisite beach sitting area. The refreshing blue pool is so enticing, with a shallow area safe for kids to play in.
Verdict: One of its kind, Palm Avenue is perfect for a lavish lunch on a sunny Friday afternoon with family & friends. Free access to their beautiful swimming pool and alongside the beach you have a selection of exciting water sports activities including Banana Boating, Snorkeling & Water Skiing is just icing on the cake.
As for the Staff, the Shisha guy was so hilarious and helped us out when we wanted to change the flavors. Similarly, our attendant customized their Pasta with off the menu flavors & toppings, however the pasta was tooo huge and not at all as per likings.
The food has an extra Oomph factor to it, with an exotic Tropical vibe. Out of all the four drinks we had, each one is uniquely designed for summers. The chef is a sweetheart and customizes your dishes with a happy smile. While returning home, I was pleasantly surprised and left the Hotel with a full tummy and a bag of their delicious Garlic Fries.
When I first heard the words ‘Bertin Bistro’ I immediately envisioned a small Cafe involving a some kind of French dishes. What I wasn’t expecting was a 19th-century love tale inspired two floored Bistro. We’re talking about a magical culinary journey through France, Spain & Morocco, starting off with a large open kitchen bakery on the ground-floor crafting delicate French artisan desserts and traveling upstairs you find yourself in an Andalusian lounge offering Moroccan & Spanish food topped with the exotic smell of shisha.
Bertin Signatures dishes from the mouth watering Alsace desserts downstairs to the refashioned thin pizza bread served with different flavors & toppings baked right in front of you downstairs at their massive pastry counter is just delightful & eye pleasing.
Our order for the evening:
The very first thing we treated ourselves was with their chilled fresh fruit smoothies and Mixed flavor sheesha which was the perfect way to start off this massive food splurge. Before going any further, to all my Shisha loving reader, Bertin Bistro mixes the most intricate flavors of Shisha – exotic smell & divine taste, a combo which never disappoints!
The house specialty, flammkuchen will definitely win over your hearts with the very first bite. Bertin’s Flammekueche is an Alsatian oven baked dish composed of bread dough rolled out very thin. You can also taste it with gluten-free dough.
The Spanish – Moroccan Hot & Cold Tapas were actually finger-licking tasty. Their Chicken Croquettes were exquisite, all I can say is your taste buds can’t get enough of this tiny crispy delicacy. But the Spicy Chicken wings were such a huge disappoint which ended up being sweet.
If that’s not enough, their tempting desserts are a massive HIT across all social media platforms. Once you taste the highly recommended Bertin’ fluffy Pain Perdu there is just NO going back, no pictures does enough justice to their fluffy, creamy & heavenly desserts.
Both the floors were crafted beautifully to capture the essence of an elegant love story. As we walked upstairs, stepping out of a relaxed white, fresh Parisian Bistro, we suddenly entered a dark mysterious, Moroccan inspired restaurant with an outdoor terrace. The whole place comes together as you go through the menu and unfold the mystical love tale of Mr Bertin.
Not only the atmosphere, but the friendly & welcoming staff is what makes this place interestingly one of it’s kind. Our attendant constantly guided us throughout the menu and even took our tastes & liking into consideration to a large extent when recommending dishes.
Overall Bertin Bistro gets a tick against all the factors I consider for another visit. If you are into smoking, you need to try out their ridiculously appealing shisha flavors they are nothing less than PERFECTION. The second floor is where you feel like home, with comfy seats & beautiful terrace, you won’t leave anytime soon.
We thought we were so stuffed but everyone has that extra pouch of space in their stomach for a huge plate of chocolate fondue. By the time we licked the chocolate bowl clean, four hours had passed. Regardless, I would highly recommend the desserts & Shisha for a unique laid back evening experience with friends & family.
Growing up subtle flavors, mixture of spices and exotic smells was an everyday deal. North Indians are born to love the Creamy Butter Chicken, Aromatic Biryani & Mouth Watering Alu Partha, our ultimate comfort food. After trying so many different cuisines at restaurants, I always end up going right back to my Mom’s Dal Chawal – Rice & Lentil Soup. Spicy Indian cuisine is what hit the right taste buttons for me, Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity to try out authentic Indian Dishes with a modernized touch at Mint Leaf of London.
I would say that it is one of the most sophisticated & exquisite choice there is and if you’re looking for a fine dining Indian restaurant then look no further.
On a scale of one to ten, the interiors, location & ambiance of Mint Leaf is out off the charts. Located on the fifteen floor of the stunning Emirates Financial Tower, this sophisticated fusion of India meets London will win your heart over. Despite the traditional colorful artistry which mimics India, the interiors of Mint Leaf of London reflects a more regal elegant aspect. From the clean dark look to the floor-to-ceiling windows with the gorgeous view of Burj Khalifa & Sheikh Zayed Road, the place was truly like no other place I’ve been before.
You can decide to sit in the main dining room along the view of the open kitchen where all live action happens, a bar and a more cozy lounge area or their terrace seating.
If the view & location doesn’t give you a royal wave, the attendants surely will. Dressed in their best attires, our servers were extremely friendly & attentive. You realize the overall foundation of Mint Leaf of London is purely for you to have a lavish elite dining experience. From the ambiance to the intricately designed food, the restaurant puts ahead a royal touch to everything.
I absolutely loved how they instantly place a small cushioned bench alongside your table for girls to place their purse. Like how come no other restaurant thought of this, seriously Kudos to Mint Leaf for understanding the pain of every girl carrying huge handbags.
Also, the attendants quickly took our order & of course they recommended their signature drinks & dishes which I may say were my favorite among all. Lastly, he was sweet enough to help me out with lighting for my food photography as well.
It has been the most elegant & creative Indian food I’ve ever had. We started off with some Crispy Thin Roasted Papad with Sweet Mango Dip, Red Chily sauce & Pickle, quite addictive.
There were even a number of classic and exotic cocktails and “mocktails” available, created with fresh fruits, purees, and the most premium spirits at the bar. The star of the mocktails menu, however, is Mint Leaf’s signature drink, Sparkling Julep – Peach Puree, Lemon Juice, Apple Juice, Mint, this icy drink served in a huge copper mug refreshes your soul at the first sight.
For appetizers,we got the controversial Adarki Lamp Chops – perfectly flavored with ginger & coriander these lamp chops were tender, soft & so tempting, that I ended up finishing platter myself. Now comes the confusion, the lamp chops lay upon tiny discs of ‘something’ which I thought being chapli kebabs ended up being pressed mint leaf baby potatoes.
Another favorite of mine would be the Lahori Murgh Tikka which was exactly what I was looking for – pure authentic spicy mash up of Chicken Tikka.
Next was their modernized take on the classic Indian street food Aloo Chaat, served in a stylish wine glass filled with tiny discs of crispy baby Potatoes, Sweet yogurt & tangy Tamarind Chutney seasoned with Pomegranate seeds & Bhujia.
We also tried their gorgeous Golden Lady with a twitch of Elderflower cordial, Lemon Juice, Gold Dust, Scavi and Ray Non- Alcoholic Sparkling Grape Juice
We further enjoyed Pindi Cholley – Chickpea Stew with Roasted Cumin & Tamarind, Dal Makhni – Buttery Black Lentil & Murgh Tikka Lazeez – Classic Chicken Tikka Curry, Roasted Sweet Pepper Cream. To try something out of the box we also got their
To try something out of the box we also got their Chilli Garlic Naan which were kinda a disappointment. Despite the red color, it didn’t taste anything near to Garlic or Chili.
The Murgh Tikka Lazeez is a definite must try, I would go further and call it a Spicy /Sweet alternative to my personal fav creamy butter chicken. The perfectly roasted spiced up Pepper Creamy Sauce was on point.
To finish off your culinary delicacy, the very much fashioned yet still somewhat true to its roots Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake was the last delight for the evening. A perfect example of India meets London cooking style, served with Mango puree, strawberry and Gulan Jamun slices, this heavenly dessert had a layer of crushed biscuits, sweet goodness of cream cheese & bits of Gulab Jamun.
If you are looking for a luxurious dining to impress, then Mint Leaf’s Heart warming Atmosphere, Eye pleasing Mock-tails & Supremely fashioned Entree is the answer. Forget about your money & enjoy the deluxe experience at this innovative Indian restaurant combining the best of both the classic and progressive styles.
Also, they have Ladies Night on every Monday from 7 pm on wards.Receive 3 drink vouchers and you can choose from 2 options of cocktails, White wine, Red Wine OR Sparkling wine. Ladies receive 30% discount on Lounge Food menu as well at Lounge and Bar Area.

We all have that one Friday booked for the family day out, am I right? ‘Friday Brunch’ is gradually becoming something of a tradition in Dubai, away from all the office drama, discovering new locations & exploring intriguing cuisines – that’s where Kempinski Ajman comes into the picture. Serving 5 different authentic cuisines featuring live cooking stations, an open bar and endless delicate desserts at their Friday Garden Brunch could be the panacea for the entire week’s exhaustion.
Beautifully designed to entertain the needs of all family affairs, an extravagant Friday Garden Brunch on the grassy gardens of Kempinski Hotel Ajman by the palm trees and shimmering private beach could be the highlight of your upcoming Friday. Relaxed, chilled out Picnic vibe with wooden tables & umbrellas seems perfect for families while you get to enjoy live music, your little ones have their own party at the Kids play area, swimming pool & live cooking station for ready to make cotton candy & pancakes.
Starting indoors from Cafe Kranzler filled with all the appetisers & desserts, the brunch goes all the way outdoors with individual live cooking stations for Indian, Chinese, Arabic & Italian cuisine along with a Barbeque Station serving jumbo prawns, cod fish, chicken tikka, steak, lamb chops basically anything you ask for.
The Barbeque Station also offers a variety of sauces, dips & grilled vegetables (corn, tomatoes, pineapples and even baked potatoes).
The Arabic station was packed with all traditional yumminess I grew up eating – Shawarma, Keebeh, Cheese Rolls & Foul Medames.
The Indian cooking station had to be my favourite. The chef was so jolly & enthusiastic, he definitely brings on a smile. And oh my goodness the food was extremely satisfying. You get Biryani, Murg Makhani, Dal & they make the cutest Naan Bread in their portable Tandoor.
Next was the Asian station headed by authentic Chinese chefs & we got to try Dim Sum & Duck Spring rolls for the first time – Not a huge fan 🙁
Lastly, the Italian station was fun filled, where the Chef showcased ready to make spaghetti & served various sauces as per your likings.
Now can we take a moment to appreciate Cafe Kranzler’s head pastry chef who delicately designed such intricate selection of desserts! The selection was HUGE and I took around 10 minutes picking out everything I desired yet ended up leaving sad that I couldn’t have them all. My favourite one was surely their soft & mouth-watering mango & raspberry mini tarts.
Hands down, one of the best brunches I have ever been to. I would love to spend all my Friday afternoon at Kempinski trying out the countless desserts with my friends & family. This is one place you’ve got to go when you want to eat your heart out, you fall in love with the atmosphere & to all my Dubai folks this is the place to come for a quick getaway.

Anyone who knows me will know how obsessed am I with pizza – crunchy crusts, oozing cheese & fiery meat, I just can’t get enough of it. So when Pizza Express told me their Al Safa branch had a grand makeover with a brand new menu complimenting their usual selections which they wanted me to test them out, and you guessed it right, I jumped at the chance.
This is very much a landmark location; situated on a peaceful corner of Al Wasl Road, Jumeirah. It’s the perfect spot to visit just after a sunset stroll from the Al Safa Park and BANG you can find the revamped look of your childhood favorite “Pizza Express”. To give a restaurant a 10/10 for their location, I expected a good parking space, heart soothing view & warm welcoming ambiance at which this Eating House stood out like a champ. They offer both indoor & walled outdoor sitting area from where you can have the gorgeous view of Burj Khalifa. However, if you are looking for a more private seating arrangement, that’s not on the cards.
At the first glance of the menu have you been so confused and skeptic about what to order, that it is nearly an impossible task? Yes, I’m one of those hopeless confused souls who wander around the vast selection for hours. I asked our server for some help and she was happy to help me out, instead of dumping the most expensive deals on the menu, she right away focused on my preferences and with some deeply calculated thought process, she referred to me items which I ended up loving. So Kudos to their staff members, who gave my taste buds the utmost priority.
We started off our Cheat Day with their Tropical Mocktail, a blend of Fresh watermelon & pineapple juice topped with lemon which was the perfectly proportioned citrusy drink and got some green silicon olives as Intros from their New menu.
For starters, we got their ‘Speciale’ Dough balls rolled & baked with Parmesan and served with garlic butter which, to my liking was quite average and lacking that extra oomph. On the other hand, my friend found it surprisingly pleasant & flavorful with garlic butter.
If you are an anti-tomatoes individual, their Penne Pollo Pesto – a combination of chicken, mushroom, red onions, mozzarella & parmesan baked in Bechamel & Pesto sauce, is sure to take you on a very refreshing ride. If baked kinds of pasta are your thing, do give this a try but please remember it will not satisfy your spicy food cravings.
And boy oh boy what a selection they have here at Pizza Express! I love my thick base, cheese filled crust pizza no matter what, and to some people’s shock, it was my very first time trying a thin base pizza. We got the punchy Pollo Forza pizza with fiery roquito peppers, smoked paprika chicken grated with chilli oil, parmesan & parsley. Let’s talk about the pizza size first, it was HUGE, they literally go all out when we order the LARGE ones and their bases were a really good quality and didn’t feel quite as grease overall
Given that pizza is one of my all time favourite feasts, favoritism is bound to happen. The pizza was filled with well-balanced & complimenting flavours which in my books is a winner.
We could not leave without trying the new range of mouth watering desserts, got their Chocolate fondant & left with a big satisfied smile on my face. A warm chocolate fondant with melted chocolate orange center served with a scoop of homemade gelato. The gelato was decent but it was the oozing melted orange chocolate which took me over with a surprise.
In terms of cost, Pizza Express stands right in the middle junction. Though, I loved the pasta in terms of the portion offered, it was way too expensive. But the Pizza oh, it was so worth the price – very filling, flavourful & good quantity. “THUMBS UP”. They also have a Friday brunch and 2 For 1 Monday offer in our Jazz restaurant in Cluster A, JLT.
Oh hell yes!! A perfect place to dine with my family or a chilled out hanging spot for friends, but this isn’t a couples place even though the view is divine. But they got the ‘lovey doves’ all covered up with their New Jazz@PizzaExpress restaurants. The menu has an array of new and interesting flavours, as well as exciting new dessert options which deserve at least one try.

A glimpse of what I thought, when an invitation to try out the very first fondue restaurant based in the Hipster district that is BoxPark Dubai, landed on my email. Yes, you read it right, the international cheesy melty goodness has opened doors in UAE market since mid-2015. Revolving around the extravagant fondue experience, ‘The Melting Pot’ offers a premium fondue cooking styles and a variety of unique entrees, salads, and indulgent desserts.
The very essence of Melting Point is to have interactive & fun time with others on your table sharing an uplifting pot of hot fondue, which makes it the ultimate destination of “Yumminess”. A sensible & cost effective decision would be to go with their four course menu option, which allows you to select a themed set menu of one of each of the four sections (cheese, entrée, salad, and chocolate), expertly chosen specifically to complement each other as you move joyfully from one to another.
As they say, the first impression is the last, the ostentatious venue was a total love at first sight for me, but mind you Box Park at Al Wasl Road, Jumeirah has some of the most lavish eating houses with exclusively intricate designs you will ever see (though parking area could be a real pain). Melting Pot is quite a big & spacious restaurant, with seating areas inside & out, we could also choose their hidden seating arrangement for more privacy too. With warm yellowish lighting tone & green leafy interior it creates a warm earthy, inviting atmosphere. Every table is completed with a built-in glass stove tops where the fondue pots are heated and ready to start the fun!
You are welcomed by the staff with such a beautiful smile and the most friendly ones I have come across. As you take your seat, your assigned waiter greets & introduce themselves in the most heart-warming gesture. Unfortunately, I can’t recall his name, but I love when the staff is so well informed about the menu & help you out with the orders.
It was time to start the dipping process, for our cheese course, my Indian spicy insights were on fire & we ordered the FIESTA Cheese – A blend of cheddar cheese with non-alcoholic beer, jalapeno peppers & salsa. Although you really can’t go wrong with any of them, FIESTA cheese was so flavorful & creamy served along with white & brown bread cubes, raw veggies (baby carrot & cauliflower), nachos and apple cubes.
I never expected to eat “Apples” dipped in cheese and by the way, it was the best thing on the table. The bread was crunchy enough, just the way I like it. Though the veggies are not seasoned you could ask your waiter for different seasonings too.
My biggest regret would be not trying out their main course dishes which looked impeccable & astonishing (but I had a very heavy breakfast). And jumped directly to their desserts which to be honest I’m craving till today. We got the Mint Chocolate Chip Fondue which came with a distinct aromatic fragrance which melted my heart away.
As promised by the waiter this was the best part of our dining experience. Your preferred chocolate fondue comes with a mixed platter of assorted fruits, marshmallows & pastries. To be specific you are served with 2 pieces of pineapples, dates & melons, 4 pieces of strawberries, 1 small square of brownie, 1 small square of cookie dough, 2 small squares of soft pound cake and finally two different seasoned marshmallows. Each flavor sensation better than the last, it’s a great, decadent end to any fondue feast.
For a sugar lover like me, this was truly the most overwhelming part of my lunch journey at The Melting Point, I just wanted to have it all. My favorite was the cold brownie and hot chocolate combination and even the strawberries blended so well with green mint chocolate fondue.
Absolutely!!! Melting Point is must go, especially for people who have never experienced a fondue restaurant before. The whole concept of sharing the hot fondue with others on the table is so intriguing & beautifully enhancing your entire meal. It is perfect for couples for an easy chilled out date, as for me, I have already marked a day to take my mom out on a date at this restaurant.
