A diamond is just a piece of charcoal that shined exceptionally well in the dark nights. Just like Henry Kissinger said, I found a jewel in the isolated roads of Sharjah University. Going by the Instagram handle @flavors_of_the_world_uae fully justify its name to perfection. Rabiee Al Shaay Cafe is a hidden gem yet a popular buzz in the food blogging community with it’s one of a kinda sushi dessert rolls and finger licking presentations. Click here for the menu and prices.
Though the seating area is very compact and limited, the rich menu makes up for the shortage with tempting delicacies, you can’t deny. For drinks, I had their cult favourite Passion fruit mojito and my plus one settled for a fascinating twist to Kiwi lime mojito. The latter was a bit too tangy for my liking but the former was a definite winner.
While we enjoyed our vibrant drinks, the popular appetisers were served hot!! Dynamite shrimps and Chicken Wings, both came with an interesting taste like never before. Of course, nothing can beat the almighty Dynamite shrimps of Pf Changs, but this could give them a tough fight especially with their affordable prices. The chicken wings were not up to my liking, it had a bit too much soy sauce.
For mains, we got their Pink Chicken pasta which was supposed to give a taste of jalapenos, creamy tomato sauce and red peppers. Although the dish was decent, it did not match up to what was mentioned on the menu. On the positive side, one look and I knew I had to get their Cheetohs sliders, one bite and I knew SALT is no longer my favourite spot.
A) The prices are cheaper B) The taste is excellent C )It has Cheetohs
The moment of desserts. I’m always intrigued with a live cooking demonstration, the inner child in me finds it enticing and wildly fascinating but this time I was numb observing the chef master the art of crepes and sushi in one beautiful giant chocolaty delight. As he poured the chocolaty goodness over the brownie rolled in crepe and cut into bite size sushi-like pieces, my jaw dropped and my eyes were lit like a baby.
Finally, the moment of truth, one bite of this dessert and you know a connected is developed and you are coming back to this small eatery, in fact, this will be a talk topic among your friends and Instagram feed.
Overall, it is a Winner in my dictionary with its Instagram-worthymenu and affordable prices. And if you study somewhere near or work across the street, I surely recommended this exciting takeaway joint.
After days of endless hectic blogging schedules, a much need Staycation was bound to follow. De-stressing yourself by getting away from all the office buzz & deadlines is so crucial to keep you sane. A few weeks back I was blessed with a luxurious stay at Hilton Hotel located in the heart of Al Qasba, Sharjah.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the team who ensured the check in process was smooth. The staff later carried our bags to the room, while I spent my own sweet time clicking pictures of their grand lobby area.
At both sides of the lobby were set Al Dallah & Citrus Lobby Lounges ideal to relax and enjoy a light naughty snack.
Our Twin Deluxe Lagoon room on the 7th floor was well-equipped with two twin-sized beds, and 32″ plasma TV, which comes with kid channels – very handy for rainy days. The comfy bed and white sheets made sure we had a good night’s sleep. You can find a work desk with multiple plugging stations, as well as an in-room safe, mini bar and coffee/tea making facilities in the room.
The bathroom is a beloved feature of the room, with its bright interior and elegant white marble tiles the huge bathtub, partitioned toilet, and not to mention designer toiletries from Peter Thomas Roth ensured us, a royal stay at Hilton.
The closet was huge, accompanied with iron and hair dryer and it also holds a built-in locker. For an extra regal touch, the room includes plush bathrobe and slippers. But my favourite part was the magnificent view of the Khalid Lagoon and the city skyline at night. You could see the water dance from way above.
After getting settled in the room comfortably next on our agenda was to take a walk around the Waterfront. Right around the hotel is Elevation burger known for its healthy organic ingredients and moving forward, you find Dominions Pizza as well. On the other hand for entertainment, you have NOVA cinema at walking distance.
We quickly fell asleep watching the Disney channel in our soft comfy giant single beds & separate comforters. I desperately loathe sharing my blanket.
Next morning, we went to Mojo Restaurant for our complimentary breakfast and bouy I was so surprised!! While the selection was really impressive & alluring to the eye, the friendly staff was the highlight of my brunch. Beverages including tea, coffee & juices are served by the staff themselves.
Live cooking stations are my lovely to experience especially if it’s all about crepes & paired with the handy mini Nutella packs. Though the chefs were making Eggs, my eyes were stuck to the beautifully cooked French-style pancakes.
Lastly, summers are all about Watermelon and so was our summer morning. You find a whole section dedicated to the fruit, from smoothies to muffins, watermelon was star of the show.
Until this day, the yummy crepe was all I can recall about the hotel. I do recommend this hotel to any family or couple looking for an easy, affordable getaway.
Check-in: 2 pm while the Check-out is12:00 pm. The per day rate of the Deluxe Twin room starts from AED 350 which includes free WIFI and breakfast at Mojo Restaurant.

Growing up subtle flavors, mixture of spices and exotic smells was an everyday deal. North Indians are born to love the Creamy Butter Chicken, Aromatic Biryani & Mouth Watering Alu Partha, our ultimate comfort food. After trying so many different cuisines at restaurants, I always end up going right back to my Mom’s Dal Chawal – Rice & Lentil Soup. Spicy Indian cuisine is what hit the right taste buttons for me, Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity to try out authentic Indian Dishes with a modernized touch at Mint Leaf of London.
I would say that it is one of the most sophisticated & exquisite choice there is and if you’re looking for a fine dining Indian restaurant then look no further.
Location & Ambiance
On a scale of one to ten, the interiors, location & ambiance of Mint Leaf is out off the charts. Located on the fifteen floor of the stunning Emirates Financial Tower, this sophisticated fusion of India meets London will win your heart over. Despite the traditional colorful artistry which mimics India, the interiors of Mint Leaf of London reflects a more regal elegant aspect. From the clean dark look to the floor-to-ceiling windows with the gorgeous view of Burj Khalifa & Sheikh Zayed Road, the place was truly like no other place I’ve been before.
You can decide to sit in the main dining room along the view of the open kitchen where all live action happens, a bar and a more cozy lounge area or their terrace seating.
If the view & location doesn’t give you a royal wave, the attendants surely will. Dressed in their best attires, our servers were extremely friendly & attentive. You realize the overall foundation of Mint Leaf of London is purely for you to have a lavish elite dining experience. From the ambiance to the intricately designed food, the restaurant puts ahead a royal touch to everything.
I absolutely loved how they instantly place a small cushioned bench alongside your table for girls to place their purse. Like how come no other restaurant thought of this, seriously Kudos to Mint Leaf for understanding the pain of every girl carrying huge handbags.
Also, the attendants quickly took our order & of course they recommended their signature drinks & dishes which I may say were my favorite among all. Lastly, he was sweet enough to help me out with lighting for my food photography as well.
Food & Experience
It has been the most elegant & creative Indian food I’ve ever had. We started off with some Crispy Thin Roasted Papad with Sweet Mango Dip, Red Chily sauce & Pickle, quite addictive.
There were even a number of classic and exotic cocktails and “mocktails” available, created with fresh fruits, purees, and the most premium spirits at the bar. The star of the mocktails menu, however, is Mint Leaf’s signature drink, Sparkling Julep – Peach Puree, Lemon Juice, Apple Juice, Mint, this icy drink served in a huge copper mug refreshes your soul at the first sight.
For appetizers,we got the controversial Adarki Lamp Chops – perfectly flavored with ginger & coriander these lamp chops were tender, soft & so tempting, that I ended up finishing platter myself. Now comes the confusion, the lamp chops lay upon tiny discs of ‘something’ which I thought being chapli kebabs ended up being pressed mint leaf baby potatoes.
Another favorite of mine would be the Lahori Murgh Tikka which was exactly what I was looking for – pure authentic spicy mash up of Chicken Tikka.
Next was their modernized take on the classic Indian street food Aloo Chaat, served in a stylish wine glass filled with tiny discs of crispy baby Potatoes, Sweet yogurt & tangy Tamarind Chutney seasoned with Pomegranate seeds & Bhujia.
We also tried their gorgeous Golden Lady with a twitch of Elderflower cordial, Lemon Juice, Gold Dust, Scavi and Ray Non- Alcoholic Sparkling Grape Juice
We further enjoyed Pindi Cholley – Chickpea Stew with Roasted Cumin & Tamarind, Dal Makhni – Buttery Black Lentil & Murgh Tikka Lazeez – Classic Chicken Tikka Curry, Roasted Sweet Pepper Cream. To try something out of the box we also got their
To try something out of the box we also got their Chilli Garlic Naan which were kinda a disappointment. Despite the red color, it didn’t taste anything near to Garlic or Chili.
The Murgh Tikka Lazeez is a definite must try, I would go further and call it a Spicy /Sweet alternative to my personal fav creamy butter chicken. The perfectly roasted spiced up Pepper Creamy Sauce was on point.
To finish off your culinary delicacy, the very much fashioned yet still somewhat true to its roots Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake was the last delight for the evening. A perfect example of India meets London cooking style, served with Mango puree, strawberry and Gulan Jamun slices, this heavenly dessert had a layer of crushed biscuits, sweet goodness of cream cheese & bits of Gulab Jamun.
If you are looking for a luxurious dining to impress, then Mint Leaf’s Heart warming Atmosphere, Eye pleasing Mock-tails & Supremely fashioned Entree is the answer. Forget about your money & enjoy the deluxe experience at this innovative Indian restaurant combining the best of both the classic and progressive styles.
