Spiceklub – Where Gastronomy becomes Affordable!

We didn’t plan to eat at this place!
In fact, my answer is a big fat NO to pure vegetarian meals, you see I’m guilty of being an overly obsessed Meat Lover but I”m also a fan of nitrogen gas floating on my food (lol, my blogger side randomly rolls out at the dining table). However, the gossips of Spice Klub’s Love Affair between Classic Indian dishes and Molecular Gastronomy is what changed my heart (I’m a sucker for romance).
Indian molecular gastronomy is a fantasy world revolutionized by overly priced fine dining restaurants in Dubai, don’t get me wrong I still love Tresind & Farzi Cafe but this love comes with a price (a fairly large one!). SpiceKlub newly adopted this refreshing phenomenon on an affordable rate and elevates a traditional delicacy to a whole new level.

LOCATION & AMBIANCE

Located in the busy streets of Mankhool (where parking is practically a nightmare), the already anxious me, was thrown off guard with parallel parking (One year into my license still no clue how to do it). Thankfully, just behind the restaurant, I could find the normal paid ones. (Bumper, they don’t have valet parking).

SpiceKlub does win some extra brownie points for their Insta-worthy interiors. From the colorful Rangoli wall (which we were told was a joint effort by the owner and his artistic wife) to the giant row of pillows with quirky desi sayings.

FOOD & EXPERIENCE

We started off with some gorgeous looking drinks (which probably could pass as desserts too) – Coconut Water with Rose Caviar and Mango on Rocks. Both the seasonal drinks were meant to be eaten and oh boy! if you ever want to tackle Dubai Heat, you need these nitrogen infused drinks.
Spice klub dubai review food blogger best uae zomato indian gastronomy food affordable pav bhaji fondue with rahma talwar (1)
Coconut Water with Rose Caviar
Next thing we know, our table is filled with their most famous appetizers – Pav Bhaji Fondue, Pani Puri (Average! I would go for something else, like Papdi Chaat next time) and Galouti Kebab. Even though you can find Pav Bhaji almost everywhere in Dubai, not everybody manages to make it so good. They took a rather bold move to amalgamate a traditional Indian street food with the International creamy goodness of a fondue and my family was super impressed (which reminds me they need to take a shot of Melting pot too).
For the main course,  we decided to try my brother’s favorite dishes (unlike me, he loves veg food) – Dal Makhani (quite average), Paneer Tikka Masala and  Malai Kofta.  With such creamy base and flavorful aroma, both the dishes were so good that I had to ask our server to pack the rest. I’m definitely going back for more Malai Kofta!
Naturally, we barely had room for dessert but since the server said Paan, I was excited beyond belief. Though my mom gave the dessert a big thumbs down (while enjoying her sweet Rasgula Cheesecake), my brother and I stuffed our mouth with the exceptionally amazing Pan Mousse.  If you miss Paan, it’s a must try. Here is the video just in case you would like to try it:
Overall, we loved our experience at SpiceKlub, from the food options to staff behavior everything was on point (none gave us the ‘looks’ while we laughed like crazy or took 100 pictures with the rangoli wall). Hands down, this place completely changed my perspective and I’m a fan of Indian Veg again. Life shall bring us back to Mankhool for Quattro (sister concern of SpiceKlub, featuring Mexican & Italian delicacy with a twist) thus we will keep you posted if we go to other one.
PS. My brother was super impressed by the Business Set Lunch Combo just for 39AED. If you are hustling around the streets of Mankhool during an afternoon, here is a place to rejuvenate without breaking pocket.

05 Undeniably Best Restaurants in Dubai That Deserve a Shoot Out

Yes! I’m often offered free food.
Yes! I’ve gained weight during the past one year.
And Yes! I love trying out new Restaurants.

Food blogging – an insane delicious adventure discovering some of the best in Dubai, probably some perfect fits for foodies which deserve a shootout. I surely have ticked off ‘Try new cuisines’ from my bucket list. I travel to the gist of Middle East fields with Authentic Arabic feasts to legendary Mughlai dishes of Northen India, from artistic Chinese Supper to fascinating seafood delicacies, but always falling back to my home country’s traditional recipes, I can never deny my soft corner for spicy Indian treats.

So for this post, I thought of a little throwback to my favorite eatery in Dubai, a quick guide to Dubai’s best. A list of my 5 top go-to spots while a guest is in town or a deluxe dinner for special occasions in on the agenda.

1.Mint Leaf of London
Cost: AED 350 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: Indian, North Indian

If the view & location doesn’t give you a royal wave, the attendants surely will. Mint Leaf of London is based purely on the foundation of a lavish elite dining experience. From the eye pleasing ambiance to the intricately crafted menu, the restaurant puts ahead a regal touch to everything. If you are looking for a luxurious dining to dazzle a special someone, then Mint Leaf’s heartwarming atmosphere, aesthetically tasteful Mock-tails & Supremely fashioned Entree is the answer. Forget about your money & enjoy the luxurious experience at this innovative Indian restaurant combining the best of both worlds – classic & progressive.

2. Nom Nom Asia
Cost: AED 125 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: Chinese, Thai, Asian

Nom Nom Asia, a Cafe style Asian restaurant inspired by South-East Asian street food culture, serving both Chinese & Thai. The graffiti walls & quirky hashtag chopstick logos does catch your eye instantly. The Menu is compact yet a bit complicated offering over 108 dishes in veg,  chicken, fish, prawn, tofu & beef. The best feature about them would surely be their affordable prices. You could easily eat your heart out under 100 AED with such exceptional portions. This restaurant is perfect for takeouts or delivery too.

Also, recently they launched a beautiful heartfelt initiative, where Nom Nom Asia feeds a free meal to unemployed individuals at their Karama Branch.

3. Pizza Express @ Jazz
Cost: AED 200 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: Italian, Pizza

Anyone who knows me will know how overly obsessed I am with pizza. With so many Pizza outlets, why this particular one? In terms of cost, Pizza Express stands right in the middle junction. The menu has an array of new and interesting flavors every season, as well as exciting new dessert options which deserve a try. Coupled with a smooth and classy soundtrack delivered daily from our world class musicians, An elegant and intimate venue with an upbeat atmosphere – the New Jazz@PizzaExpress covers up all love doves.

4. The Melting Pot – Box Park
Cost: AED 300 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: European, American

Revolving around the wild fondue experience, ‘The Melting Pot’ offers a premium fondue cooking styles and a variety of unique entrees, salads, and indulgent desserts. Honestly, the whole concept of sharing the hot fondue with others on the table is so intriguing & beautifully enhances your entire meal. This is one restaurant which I’ve gone back over and over again too. Plus, the super-hyped ‘Big Night Out offer basically a four-course meal for two only for AED 349 is worth every penny.

5. Tresind
Cost: AED 500 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: Indian; Molecular Gastronomy

If you would like to really impress someone, Tresind’s unique concept & fine dining approach sets the mood for you. Executive Chef Himanshu Saini explores a new take on some of the most popular Indian street & traditional dishes with Molecular Gastronomic presentation while the helpful staff aids your understanding of what’s going on along the cloudy Nitrogen gameplay. Honestly, each dish served at this restaurant had thumbs up from me and my friends. Though it comes down to a pricey range, I believe a little extravaganza is always good at occasions.

Until next time, Much Love

THE ONE WHERE MY SUSHI TURNED SWEET

Rabiee Al Shay UAE Restaurant Review in University Road Sharjah by Desi food blogger instagram food influcencerA diamond is just a piece of charcoal that shined exceptionally well in the dark nights. Just like Henry Kissinger said, I found a jewel in the isolated roads of Sharjah University. Going by the Instagram handle @flavors_of_the_world_uae fully justify its name to perfection. Rabiee Al Shaay Cafe is a hidden gem yet a popular buzz in the food blogging community with it’s one of a kinda sushi dessert rolls and finger licking presentations. Rabiee Al Shay UAE Restaurant Review in University Road Sharjah by Desi food blogger instagram food influcencerThough the seating area is very compact and limited, the rich menu makes up for the shortage with tempting delicacies, you can’t deny. For drinks, I had their cult favourite Passion fruit mojito and my plus one settled for a fascinating twist to Kiwi lime mojito. The latter was a bit too tangy for my liking but the former was a definite winner.

Rabiee Al Shay UAE Restaurant Review in University Road Sharjah by Desi food blogger instagram food influcencer Dynamite shrimps in sharjahWhile we enjoyed our vibrant drinks, the popular appetisers were served hot!! Dynamite shrimps and Chicken Wings, both came with an interesting taste like never before. Of course, nothing can beat the almighty Dynamite shrimps of Pf Changs, but this could give them a tough fight especially with their affordable prices. The chicken wings were not up to my liking, it had a bit too much soy sauce.

Pink Sauce Penny Chicken pasta

For mains, we got their Pink Chicken pasta which was supposed to give a taste of jalapenos, creamy tomato sauce and red peppers.  Although the dish was decent, it did not match up to what was mentioned on the menu. On the positive side, one look and I knew I had to get their Cheetohs sliders, one bite and I knew SALT is no longer my favourite spot.

  1. A) The prices are cheaper B) The taste is excellent  C )It has Cheetohs

The moment of desserts. I’m always intrigued with a live cooking demonstration, the inner child in me finds it enticing and wildly fascinating but this time I was numb observing the chef master the art of crepes and sushi in one beautiful giant chocolaty delight.  As he poured the chocolaty goodness over the brownie rolled in crepe and cut into bite size sushi-like pieces, my jaw dropped and my eyes were lit like a baby.

Overall, it is a Winner in my dictionary with its Instagram-worthy menu and affordable prices. And if you study somewhere near or work across the street, I surely recommended this exciting takeaway joint.

LAVISH BRUNCH AT EWAAN, DOWNTOWN PALACE

Living in UAE, you are overthrown by alternatives for Friday Plans particularly the options available for lavish brunch with family. IFTAR BUFFET AT SHERATON SHARJAH

Iftar buffet preview by Sheraton Sharjah in Al Mudheef Ballroom for Ramadan Review by Dubai Food BloggerLast night I was invited to preview the lavish Iftar Buffet at Sheraton Sharjah’s Al Mudheef Ballroom. The place gets a more traditional Arabic ‘Majlis’ setting for the holy month of Ramadan with a deliciously mouth-watering Middle Eastern Arabic cuisine.

The highlight of our dinner was the exquisite desserts which leave you craving for more & more. It’s the area where the child in me jumps & applauds all the way around. The pastry chef of Sheraton Sharjah was a HUGE HIT among all the kids at the Buffet. The Arabic desserts were on point especially the Umm Ali & Bokaj Pista; however; the Kunnaf was quite disappointing.

My favourites for the evening:

Mango Creme
Red Velvet Cake
Vanilla Pound Cake
Bokaj Pista & Cashew
White Pasta
Chicken Harees

Service: Even though the restaurant was jam packed, the dishes did not seem lacking at all, the staff constantly replaced the buffet dishes. Secondly, they dutifully removed used cutlery, and even offered to bring beverages directly to the table.

Final Verdict: The dessert counter is to die for (I cannot pressurise this point enough that the desserts were AMAZING), yet the main course lacked variety. If you are looking to have a Middle Eastern inspired Iftar, this is the perfect place. The chef offers you authentic Arab food which you fall in love with instantly. However, if you are an Indian seeking spices & herbs to the fullest in your much-awaited food this Ramadan, this Buffet may not be for you.

Iftar buffet at Al Mudheef Ballroom costs AED 125 per person (Group of 10+ costs 115 AED per head) inclusive of drinks and hot beverages. The buffet runs from sunset to 10 pm daily for the month of Ramadan

GRAND CAFé BOULEVARD – RESTAURANT REVIEW

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESGrand Café Boulevard, a high-end fine dining restaurant delivers the heritage of Lebanon into the heart of Dubai. Super accessible from Dubai Mall, this authentic Lebanese restaurant is sketched out to two floors in the utmost lavish & regal setting. From the magnificent view of the Burj Khalifa at the top story to the luxurious ‘movie premiere like’ red carpet leading you into the cafe, just like it’s named, the culinary journey is exquisitely GRAND.

AMBIANCE & ATMOSPHERE

GRAND CAFE OUTDOOR TERRACE

With an open terrace and casual seating area, the top floor is perfect for sheesha lovers, the main road leading to Downtown Dubai on one side and the view of the Grand Burj Khalifa on the other hand.

Majestic Islamic Architecture on Ground Floor with Live Arabic Music Station

But The awe-inspiring beauty of Islamic architecture & patterns displayed on the ground floor is the real show stealer. The interior design of Grand Cafe Boulevard is a celebration of the rich Arabic cultural with an enticing showcase of colors & traditional live music.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESWe started off with a Yellow Lentil Soup served in a big sauce pan alongside bread sticks. The chef recommended soup was a pure delight for my sore throat.
SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESFor drinks, we had the refreshing Red Roses a beautiful mixture of Cranberry, coconut, orange, passion fruits, peach, grenadine & Fresh Fruit Cocktail a Seasonal selection of fruits sliced with Kashta & honey.  Both the drinks were equally enticing & sole rejuvenating.

Grilled Kebeh

Grilled Kebeh, Hummus, Spicy Potato Wedges and Fresh Arabic Pita Bread

For starters, we got Grilled Kebbeh, Hummus & Spicy Wedges. Staying true to Grand Cafe’s guilt-free healthy cuisine, their light Grilled Kebeh tastes differently from any of my early experience with Kebeh. Incredibly flavorful served with Cucumber Yoghurt & fluffy Arabic Pita Bread fresh from the kitchen of Grand Cafe go hand in hand with the dish.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES
Beautifully Presented Hummus and Fresh Squeezed Juices

Your eyes would be set on their gorgeous Hummus Presentation, mashed with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic, topped with olive oil, paprika, mint and toasted saj rolls, it tastes as heavenly & creamy as it looks.

Spicy Wedges, being a Spicy food lover, these were a major disappointment for me. You may detect some infused garlic flavor but calling it spicy is a huge NO NO.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESStepping ahead of appetizers, for our mains, we ordered Grand Cafe’s most popular Shish Taouk, marinated chicken breast, with fresh oregano, garlic, and chili paste, this was my kind of smoked flavor & spicy infused food.

Lastly, the mouth-watering dessert selection are tempting, tantalizing and offer a truly sensational experience of taste and aroma. The moment you discover their alluring dessert menu, a greedy desire to try all the dishes captures your mind & soul.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESA modernized take on the traditional Arabic Kanafeh led to the stunning invention of Ashta and Rosewater Cigar. Filled with creamy cheese goodness, caramel, rose water syrup, the crispy cigar was truly a delight.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESChocolate Fondant is my personal favorite desserts, the combination of oozy hot chocolatey yumminess with refreshing ice cream is just heaven for me. It was utterly delicious; the souffle inside was so tempting & scrumptious.

Personal Favorite

  • Grilled Kebbeh
  • Shish Taouk
  • Chocolate Fondant

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESThe dining experience at Grand Cafe Boulevard is more than just ordering a meal; it is a complete package of royalty & luxurious comforts. The food presentation is gorgeous, and the service given to each customer is impeccable.

FLASHBACK TO PUNJAB WITH BUKHARA

Staying true to my Punjabi roots, Spicy, flavorful Indian cuisine always tops my favorites chart any day. Earlier this year, I attended Kempinski’s delightful Friday Garden Brunch and got a glimpse of the authentic taste of North India and Hyderabad at the live station headed by  Bukhara. The first encounter with this beauty was back in 2004 and till date this award winning exotic restaurant never fails to impress me.

The fish so juicy & cooked to perfection, incredibly soft & flavoured with exotic Indian spices; it was a treat to my taste buds.

PALM AVENUE BAR GRILL – RESTAURANT REVIEW

Few  Fridays ago we took the advantage of exploring the ever so charming grounds of Palm Jumeirah and spent the afternoon relaxing at Palm Avenue Bar Grill, a poolside, chic coastal restaurant in the midst of the elegant Waldorf Astoria.

Under the sparkling skies of Dubai along a refreshing and contemporary ambiance overlooking the pool view and beach front is a perfect venue for a leisurely afternoon lunch that features splendid Mediterranean delights with exotic Shisha flavors.

Though their elegant Cabana adjacent to the pool  was my initial choice, all of them were reserved in advance. So we opted for their beautiful outdoor terrace, the other options were a vibrant indoor setting or exquisite beach sitting area. The refreshing blue pool is so enticing, with a shallow area safe for kids to play in.

Verdict: One of its kind, Palm Avenue is perfect for a lavish lunch on a sunny Friday afternoon with family & friends. Free access to their beautiful swimming pool and alongside the beach you have a selection of exciting water sports activities including Banana Boating, Snorkeling & Water Skiing is just icing on the cake.

As for the Staff, the Shisha guy was so hilarious and helped us out when we wanted to change the flavors. Similarly, our attendant customized their Pasta with off the menu flavors & toppings, however the pasta was tooo huge and not at all as per likings.

The food has an extra Oomph factor to it, with an exotic Tropical vibe. Out of all the four drinks we had, each one is uniquely designed for summers. The chef is a sweetheart and customizes your dishes with a happy smile. While returning home, I was pleasantly surprised and left the Hotel with a full tummy and a bag of their delicious Garlic Fries.
