Yes! I’m often offered free food.
Yes! I’ve gained weight during the past one year.
And Yes! I love trying out new Restaurants.

Food blogging – an insane delicious adventure discovering some of the best in Dubai, probably some perfect fits for foodies which deserve a shootout. I surely have ticked off ‘Try new cuisines’ from my bucket list. I travel to the gist of Middle East fields with Authentic Arabic feasts to legendary Mughlai dishes of Northen India, from artistic Chinese Supper to fascinating seafood delicacies, but always falling back to my home country’s traditional recipes, I can never deny my soft corner for spicy Indian treats.

So for this post, I thought of a little throwback to my favorite eatery in Dubai, a quick guide to Dubai’s best. A list of my 5 top go-to spots while a guest is in town or a deluxe dinner for special occasions in on the agenda.

You could easily eat your heart out under 100 AED with such exceptional portions. This restaurant is perfect for takeouts or delivery too.

Also, recently they launched a beautiful heartfelt initiative, where Nom Nom Asia feeds a free meal to unemployed individuals at their Karama Branch.

3. Pizza Express @ Jazz
Cost: AED 200 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: Italian, Pizza

Anyone who knows me will know how overly obsessed I am with pizza. With so many Pizza outlets, why this particular one? In terms of cost, Pizza Express stands right in the middle junction. The menu has an array of new and interesting flavors every season, as well as exciting new dessert options which deserve a try. Coupled with a smooth and classy soundtrack delivered daily from our world class musicians, An elegant and intimate venue with an upbeat atmosphere – the New Jazz@PizzaExpress covers up all love doves.

Revolving around the wild fondue experience, ‘The Melting Pot’ offers a premium fondue cooking styles and a variety of unique entrees, salads, and indulgent desserts. This is one restaurant which I’ve gone back over and over again too. Plus, the super-hyped ‘Big Night Out offer basically a four-course meal for two only for AED 349 is worth every penny.

5. Tresind
Cost: AED 500 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: Indian; Molecular Gastronomy

If you would like to really impress someone, Tresind’s unique concept & fine dining approach sets the mood for you. Executive Chef Himanshu Saini explores a new take on some of the most popular Indian street & traditional dishes with Molecular Gastronomic presentation while the helpful staff aids your understanding of what’s going on along the cloudy Nitrogen gameplay. Honestly, each dish served at this restaurant had thumbs up from me and my friends. Though it comes down to a pricey range, I believe a little extravaganza is always good at occasions.

Until next time, Much Love

Living in UAE, you are overthrown by alternatives for Friday Plans particularly the options available for lavish brunch with family. Yet, when I received an invite from Downtown Palace, I was downright excited! Why may you ask? Though 21 years in UAE, it was my very first time visiting Traditional Arabic Architectural Palace known for its Award Wining luxurious Middle Eastern themes.

As we entered through the beautiful royal doors, the sumptuous spread at Ewaan left us astonished as ever. The buffet was mainly filled with over 200+ Arabic & Oriental dishes with live cooking stations. Brunch begins at 1pm and is usually jam packed with the hotel guests as well as the residents of UAE. Despite this being one of the busiest brunches that we have attended, the tables were not crammed together so we felt like we had a little bit of space and privacy amongst our dining group.

The cooking station continuously grilled meat as per your liking & served it as hot! With various sauces & dips to try with. Focusing on the Arabic Traditions, the food flavours were mild but they did offer chilli sauce for the Indian Spice lovers too. The Pasta station has always been my favourite & at this particular one, I asked the cook to add veal on to my pink pasta sauce which turned out to be a perfect combination.

MELTING POT FONDUE DELIGHT

Best fondue restaurant in dubai - melting pot box parkWith lots of munching & crunching done on my Food House column over the past one year, my gourmet adventure at melting pot is hands down a treat to foodie soul. Neither too hot shot classy scene, nor too melodramatic boring ambience,  Melting Pot at the quirky Box Park Dubai is my go to place to host an affordable delightful evening for any guest. It’s the perfect place for a girl’s night out, Friday family brunch or Thursday evening date, basically any kind of celebration.

Last time my biggest regret was to skip their main entree, so we had to try Melting Pot is famous for its super-hyped ‘Big Night Out’, basically a four-course meal for two only for AED 349: cheese fondue, salad, meat, and dessert which we were really excited to try out . If you have few hours to spare & love to have a laid back dining with friends this is the option to go.

Best fondue restaurant in dubai - melting pot box parkBest fondue restaurant in dubai - melting pot box parkMelting Pot has a collection of Mocktails & Fresh Smoothies. While I got a chocolatey sweet Yin & Yang Martini, my plus one had her heart set on a refreshing glass of Blackberry Sage Lemonade,  which came with a sweet-sour kick.

Best fondue restaurant in dubai - melting pot box parkBest fondue restaurant in dubai - melting pot box parkWe started off our international fondue experience, with a two serving of their Classic Alpine Swiss Cheese, A crazy combination of three different cheese blended with non-alcoholic white wine, fresh garlic & nutmeg.Though, I have to admit the fiery salsa Fiesta Cheese Fondue is still my favourite especially with apples, the garlicky taste to this fondue brings an interesting Italian vibe to the table.

Best fondue restaurant in dubai - melting pot box parkSalads and I are not the best of friends, but the crunchy Melting Pot House Salad served with their juicy signature dressing was a tempting treat for my taste buds. Both of us loved the huge salad. Highly Recommended! And do not let the waiter take away the cheese fondue, dip some of these green goodness into the melting cheese, believe me, it might look and sound weird but the whole salad and the flavours come together beautifully.

Best fondue restaurant in dubai - melting pot box parkAs we started to finish our salad, our attendant brought our next course, we chose to use seasoned court bouillon to cook our meat! Meats and vegetables included lobster, teriyaki-marinated sirloin, white shrimp, marinated breast of chicken, spicy beef steaks, mushrooms, a spinach cheese filling, and a variety of sauces – bleu cheese, spicy cocktail, light mustard sauce, plumb sweet-and-sour and teriyaki. Our attendant was super sweet & gave us complete instructions on how to cook our meal, and it was such a fun experience.

It  was served with all sorts of wonderful things to dip into the fondue pot: brownies, sponge cake, strawberries, bananas, marshmallows. They got us refills of cakes too, which was extra sweet of them.

The Melting Pot is a very relaxed, peaceful and romantic atmosphere. You are not rushed — which is a good thing — because you cannot eat all that delicious food quickly. Plus you’ll want to savour it! t gives you lots of time to talk to the person you’re with and relax. The fondue is amazing and with multiple courses, you really get your money’s worth.

NEW YORK-STYLE ITALIAN BRUNCH @ SABELLA

Kempinski Ajman New York Style Friday Brunch at Italian Restaurant Sabella (8)
Fridays are easily marked as family day in everyone’s calendar, but mutually agreeing upon what to do on this blessed day can be impossible at times. For me, it’s either indulging in extremely introvert lifestyle closed behind my bedroom doors or taking a trip down to my family’s favourite hangout spot Kempinski Hotel Ajman. And this time, we were trying out the Indoor New York Style Summer Friday Brunch at their Organic Italian Restaurant Sabella.

Kempinski Hotel Ajman always welcomes you like family 󾌧󾌬

Posted by RT Hijab Styles on Friday, July 8, 2016

It’s not just the dazzling food or refreshing atmosphere which makes me speak so highly of this hotel, the pleasant greeting and warm welcome by the staff wins our heart every single time.

A special mention to Kempinski’s true happy spirit, their Magical Head Pastry Chef who makes my desserts fantasy come to live every single time. If the first thing that your eyes lay upon is  a chocolate shawarma, consider it your luckiest day. But when it comes along with Six customised intricately designed theme cakes, you better jump up with joy.

I have written about Sabella’s live pasta cooking station in my Friday Garden Brunch review and how mesmerising the whole experience gets, but how about a customised pizza counter or a hotdog/burger station. You can customise your pizza as per your likings, from size to toppings – chicken, duck, turkey, pepperoni, beef, the selection is endless. For AED 150, you can get a countless number of pizzas and each one is baked to perfection.
Italian Restaurant Sabella Review in Kempinski Hotel Ajman

For an additional Italian kick, you can find famous Italian sauces & appetisers inside the restaurant.
Italian Restaurant Sabella Review in Kempinski Hotel AjmanAlso, you get the choice of getting your favourite meat grilled to your likings.

For more variety, they have added an Indian food from Bukhara (Dal Makani, Aloo Gobi & Chicken Briyani) and Arabic Cuisine (Chicken Shawarma & Lamb Mandi) to the buffet as well, but the Italian variation is so satisfying and enticing that you might end up ignoring the former.

The highlight of my brunch was the dessert selections (they had jelly beans & marshmallows, your kids would be on a sugar rush), the only regret I always have while leaving Kempinski is not eating enough desserts. The whole New York style brunch is great to  pamper your taste buds say, Si, mi amore! Your little ones would be super excited not only by the sweets but also they have play station & other gaming consoles to keep them occupied.

Prices:

  • AED 220 Beach & Brunch with selected house beverages
  • AED 190 Beach & Brunch with soft beverage
  • AED 150 Brunch with soft beverages
  • Children: AED 75 (6–12 years old)

Timing:

  • Every Friday, 1 pm – 4 pm

DELHI WALE SALEEM

After a series of Iftar previews this Ramadan and stuffing myself with Arabic cuisines, a trip back to my roots was very much needed. Fascinated with the Mughal Empire ever since my first history class, this place was a fantasy come true.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESVenturing into a three decade old delicacy of traditional rich Mughali cuisine, from Nihari to Shahi Tukra, your heart sinks back to the old streets of Delhi.

Located at the busy streets of Karama, the quirky colourful interiors & decor takes you by surprise. Indian influenced art has been commissioned for the walls aligning perfectly with its contemporary take on the legendary Mughali era.

If you try to compare this restaurant to others on the Dubai landscape then don’t! It’s truly a unique place. After all, have you seen such red exposed bricks, reclaimed barn wood, colourful chandeliers, quirky chairs & old Bollywood melodies at any other Indian restaurant before? Certainly not me.

Here is a rundown of the Mughali delicacy with which I opened my Iftar

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESWe welcomed with the complimentary Papad and a refreshing Lemon & Mint Julep. Unlike the traditional Mojitos I hate, this one was an exception with a more sweet taste to it.

For the appetisers, we got to try 8 different spicy Non-Vegetarian starters, the meat lover hidden inside me was very pleased.

htg
Murg Zafrani Tikka. Murg Mughali Tikka, Badshahi Kalmi Kebab, Murg Hazari Tikka, Mutton Burra, Shahi Boti Kabab, Sikandari Raan & Mutton Seekh Kabab

Each one was cooked to perfection, may I say picking out a favourite was merely impossible. You get a wide selection of starters ranging from Spicy to mild.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESFor the main course, Gosht Nihari & Tawa Murg served with Laccha Paratha & Garlic Naan. Much to everyone’s surprise including our attendants, it was my first time trying out the ever so famous Nihari and I was pleasantly surprised. As for the Tawa Murg, roasted chicken cooked with garam masala & tomatoes, I had to get it packed, there was no leaving back or throwing out of such delicious delicacy.

It’s a light, warm dessert and not too sweet, just a perfect end to huge Mughlai feast.

We also tried the famous Kesar & Mango Kulfi, which I wasn’t a huge fan of after having the glorious Shahi Tukra.

Saleems of Delhi Al Karama Dubai Restaurant Review by Dubai food Blogger Rt hijab sTyles (7)The ambience at Saleem’s of Delhi is pleasant and conducive for a nice dinner. Talking about the value, all the dishes are fairly priced and the portions are quite decent. Overall, if u miss India, Saleem’s of Delhi is the place to go.

IFTAR BUFFET AT SHERATON SHARJAH

Iftar buffet preview by Sheraton Sharjah in Al Mudheef Ballroom for Ramadan Review by Dubai Food BloggerLast night I was invited to preview the lavish Iftar Buffet at Sheraton Sharjah’s Al Mudheef Ballroom. The place gets a more traditional Arabic ‘Majlis’ setting for the holy month of Ramadan with a deliciously mouth-watering Middle Eastern Arabic cuisine.

Lamb Mandi

For the main course, I had two plates full of their White Cream Chicken Pasta. Packed with more of Arabic cuisine, you get the major hits Lamb Okra, Lamb Mandi, Chicken Harees.

I just review the lavish Iftar Buffet at @sheratonsharjah Al Mudheef Ballroom. The place gets a more traditional Arabic ‘Majlis’ setting for the holy month of Ramadan with a deliciously mouth-watering Grand Dessert counter ranging from Pastries to Umm Ali, Gulab Jamun to Bokaj each one cooked to perfection. The highlight of our dinner was the exquisite desserts which leave you craving for more & more. It’s the area where the child in me jumps & applauds all the way around. The pastry chef of Sheraton Sharjah was a HUGE HIT among all the kids at the Buffet. The Arabic desserts were on point especially the Umm Ali & Bokaj Pista; however; the Kunnaf was quite disappointing.

My favourites for the evening:

Mango Creme
Red Velvet Cake
Vanilla Pound Cake
Bokaj Pista & Cashew
White Pasta
Chicken Harees

Service: Even though the restaurant was jam packed, the dishes did not seem lacking at all, the staff constantly replaced the buffet dishes. Secondly, they dutifully removed used cutlery, and even offered to bring beverages directly to the table.

Final Verdict: The dessert counter is to die for (I cannot pressurise this point enough that the desserts were AMAZING), yet the main course lacked variety. If you are looking to have a Middle Eastern inspired Iftar, this is the perfect place. The chef offers you authentic Arab food which you fall in love with instantly. However, if you are an Indian seeking spices & herbs to the fullest in your much-awaited food this Ramadan, this Buffet may not be for you.

Iftar buffet at Al Mudheef Ballroom costs AED 125 per person (Group of 10+ costs 115 AED per head) inclusive of drinks and hot beverages. The buffet runs from sunset to 10 pm daily for the month of Ramadan

GRAND CAFé BOULEVARD – RESTAURANT REVIEW

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESGrand Café Boulevard, a high-end fine dining restaurant delivers the heritage of Lebanon into the heart of Dubai. Super accessible from Dubai Mall, this authentic Lebanese restaurant is sketched out to two floors in the utmost lavish & regal setting. From the magnificent view of the Burj Khalifa at the top story to the luxurious ‘movie premiere like’ red carpet leading you into the cafe, just like it’s named, the culinary journey is exquisitely GRAND.

AMBIANCE & ATMOSPHERE

GRAND CAFE OUTDOOR TERRACE

With an open terrace and casual seating area, the top floor is perfect for sheesha lovers, the main road leading to Downtown Dubai on one side and the view of the Grand Burj Khalifa on the other hand.

Majestic Islamic Architecture on Ground Floor with Live Arabic Music Station

But The awe-inspiring beauty of Islamic architecture & patterns displayed on the ground floor is the real show stealer. The interior design of Grand Cafe Boulevard is a celebration of the rich Arabic cultural with an enticing showcase of colors & traditional live music.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESWe started off with a Yellow Lentil Soup served in a big sauce pan alongside bread sticks. The chef recommended soup was a pure delight for my sore throat.
SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESFor drinks, we had the refreshing Red Roses a beautiful mixture of Cranberry, coconut, orange, passion fruits, peach, grenadine & Fresh Fruit Cocktail a Seasonal selection of fruits sliced with Kashta & honey.  Both the drinks were equally enticing & sole rejuvenating.
SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESFrom the Salad selection, we ordered their colorful Shrimp Quinoa, beautifully flavored with basil, parsley, and tomatoes & topped with tender shrimps.

Grilled Kebeh
SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES
Grilled Kebeh, Hummus, Spicy Potato Wedges and Fresh Arabic Pita Bread

For starters, we got Grilled Kebbeh, Hummus & Spicy Wedges. Staying true to Grand Cafe’s guilt-free healthy cuisine, their light Grilled Kebeh tastes differently from any of my early experience with Kebeh. Incredibly flavorful served with Cucumber Yoghurt & fluffy Arabic Pita Bread fresh from the kitchen of Grand Cafe go hand in hand with the dish.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES
Beautifully Presented Hummus and Fresh Squeezed Juices

Your eyes would be set on their gorgeous Hummus Presentation, mashed with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic, topped with olive oil, paprika, mint and toasted saj rolls, it tastes as heavenly & creamy as it looks.

Spicy Wedges, being a Spicy food lover, these were a major disappointment for me. You may detect some infused garlic flavor but calling it spicy is a huge NO NO.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESStepping ahead of appetizers, for our mains, we ordered Grand Cafe’s most popular Shish Taouk, marinated chicken breast, with fresh oregano, garlic, and chili paste, this was my kind of smoked flavor & spicy infused food.

Lastly, the mouth-watering dessert selection are tempting, tantalizing and offer a truly sensational experience of taste and aroma. The moment you discover their alluring dessert menu, a greedy desire to try all the dishes captures your mind & soul.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESA modernized take on the traditional Arabic Kanafeh led to the stunning invention of Ashta and Rosewater Cigar. Filled with creamy cheese goodness, caramel, rose water syrup, the crispy cigar was truly a delight.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESChocolate Fondant is my personal favorite desserts, the combination of oozy hot chocolatey yumminess with refreshing ice cream is just heaven for me. It was utterly delicious; the souffle inside was so tempting & scrumptious.

Personal Favorite

  • Grilled Kebbeh
  • Shish Taouk
  • Chocolate Fondant

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESThe dining experience at Grand Cafe Boulevard is more than just ordering a meal; it is a complete package of royalty & luxurious comforts. The food presentation is gorgeous, and the service given to each customer is impeccable.

FLASHBACK TO PUNJAB WITH BUKHARA

Staying true to my Punjabi roots, Spicy, flavorful Indian cuisine always tops my favorites chart any day. Earlier this year, I attended Kempinski’s delightful Friday Garden Brunch and got a glimpse of the authentic taste of North India and Hyderabad at the live station headed by  Bukhara. The first encounter with this beauty was back in 2004 and till date this award winning exotic restaurant never fails to impress me.

PALM AVENUE BAR GRILL – RESTAURANT REVIEW

Few  Fridays ago we took the advantage of exploring the ever so charming grounds of Palm Jumeirah and spent the afternoon relaxing at Palm Avenue Bar Grill, a poolside, chic coastal restaurant in the midst of the elegant Waldorf Astoria.

Under the sparkling skies of Dubai along a refreshing and contemporary ambiance overlooking the pool view and beach front is a perfect venue for a leisurely afternoon lunch that features splendid Mediterranean delights with exotic Shisha flavors.

Though their elegant Cabana adjacent to the pool  was my initial choice, all of them were reserved in advance. So we opted for their beautiful outdoor terrace, the other options were a vibrant indoor setting or exquisite beach sitting area. The refreshing blue pool is so enticing, with a shallow area safe for kids to play in.

As for the Staff, the Shisha guy was so hilarious and helped us out when we wanted to change the flavors. Similarly, our attendant customized their Pasta with off the menu flavors & toppings, however the pasta was tooo huge and not at all as per likings.

The food has an extra Oomph factor to it, with an exotic Tropical vibe. Out of all the four drinks we had, each one is uniquely designed for summers. The chef is a sweetheart and customizes your dishes with a happy smile. While returning home, I was pleasantly surprised and left the Hotel with a full tummy and a bag of their delicious Garlic Fries.
