If you are into eating clean but you love burgers, then this recommendation is especially for you.
Some time last month, we were at Dubai Festival City for the movie premiere of Valerian (btw, exceptionally amazing VFX) and took a quick detour before the movie to fill our tummy. Whether you are into gluten free eating or love organic burgers, I am sure you would know about this quirky cute little franchise from States – Bare Burger.
I’m more of a Pizza enthusiast, so this review is more from my brother’s side, who usually does not approve burgers joint so easily. His experience interning at McDonalds revealed some seriously hidden secrets of a food joint which gives him a certain edge as a food critic.
We have a soft corner for Mexican food (lol, we love anything Spicy) and decided to try El Matador Chicken Burger (guess what, they came deer & camel meat too) and Macho Fries (honestly the quantity is huge!) filled with creamy guacamole & jalapenos. My brother definitely criticized me for ordering an old school favorite – Chicken Strips but news flash, the organic buttermilk ranch & smoked sauce that came with it, were real winners.
Another burger, we were keen on is the super famous Onion ring topped Supreme – a juicy beef delight with gluten free buns. Not only was the meat, veggies & even Ketchup organic, but you might be surprised to know about an Organic Cola made with Sugar Cane (my mind was blown!)
In fact, my answer is a big fat NO to pure vegetarian meals, you see I’m guilty of being an overly obsessed Meat Lover but I”m also a fan of nitrogen gas floating on my food (lol, my blogger side randomly rolls out at the dining table). However, the gossips of Spice Klub’s Love Affair between Classic Indian dishes and Molecular Gastronomy is what changed my heart (I’m a sucker for romance).
Indian molecular gastronomy is a fantasy world revolutionized by overly priced fine dining restaurants in Dubai, don’t get me wrong I still love Tresind & Farzi Cafe but this love comes with a price (a fairly large one!). SpiceKlub newly adopted this refreshing phenomenon on an affordable rate and elevates a traditional delicacy to a whole new level.
LOCATION & AMBIANCE
Located in the busy streets of Mankhool (where parking is practically a nightmare), the already anxious me, was thrown off guard with parallel parking (One year into my license still no clue how to do it). Thankfully, just behind the restaurant, I could find the normal paid ones. (Bumper, they don’t have valet parking).
SpiceKlub does win some extra brownie points for their Insta-worthy interiors. From the colorful Rangoli wall (which we were told was a joint effort by the owner and his artistic wife) to the giant row of pillows with quirky desi sayings.
FOOD & EXPERIENCE
We started off with some gorgeous looking drinks (which probably could pass as desserts too) – Coconut Water with Rose Caviar and Mango on Rocks. Both the seasonal drinks were meant to be eaten and oh boy! if you ever want to tackle Dubai Heat, you need these nitrogen infused drinks.
Next thing we know, our table is filled with their most famous appetizers – Pav Bhaji Fondue, Pani Puri (Average! I would go for something else, like Papdi Chaat next time) and Galouti Kebab. Even though you can find Pav Bhaji almost everywhere in Dubai, not everybody manages to make it so good. They took a rather bold move to amalgamate a traditional Indian street food with the International creamy goodness of a fondue and my family was super impressed (which reminds me they need to take a shot of Melting pot too).
For the main course, we decided to try my brother’s favorite dishes (unlike me, he loves veg food) – Dal Makhani (quite average), Paneer Tikka Masala and Malai Kofta. With such creamy base and flavorful aroma, both the dishes were so good that I had to ask our server to pack the rest. I’m definitely going back for more Malai Kofta!
Naturally, we barely had room for dessert but since the server said Paan, I was excited beyond belief. Though my mom gave the dessert a big thumbs down (while enjoying her sweet Rasgula Cheesecake), my brother and I stuffed our mouth with the exceptionally amazing Pan Mousse. If you miss Paan, it’s a must try. Here is the video just in case you would like to try it:
Overall, we loved our experience at SpiceKlub, from the food options to staff behavior everything was on point (none gave us the ‘looks’ while we laughed like crazy or took 100 pictures with the rangoli wall). Hands down, this place completely changed my perspective and I’m a fan of Indian Veg again. Life shall bring us back to Mankhool for Quattro (sister concern of SpiceKlub, featuring Mexican & Italian delicacy with a twist) thus we will keep you posted if we go to other one.
PS. My brother was super impressed by the Business Set Lunch Combo just for 39AED. If you are hustling around the streets of Mankhool during an afternoon, here is a place to rejuvenate without breaking pocket.
So if I were to choose my favorite spots for Friday Brunch, I had to add Tresind to the top of the list. The whole molecular gastronomy concept is magically undertaken by plenty of restaurants in Dubai these days, but Carnival by Tresind takes the charm to the next level.
Earlier this month, they kick-started a Friday Brunch, which is more like a mega feast to the tiny little Rahma. Unlike, the regular Brunch, this was not a buffet, but a live foodilicious sorcery by the best in business.
Location & Staff: Over the years, I’ve been to some fancyish fine dining spots, but never have they welcomed us with extraordinary bubbles, ‘okay!! the inner child in me might be taking over’. But Tresind knows how to explicitly spoil their customers from head to toes. Now, I’m not so easy to be impressed, but the Staff, especially our attendant, was just a heartwarming treat, he took care of us from the start till the step out their doors.
Food: Honestly, one post wouldn’t be enough to justify, how enchanting & artistic the entire menu was, and that’s why I decided to vlog my entire experience. You really need a big appetite when it comes to tresind, because they have a master plan to make you eat the entire menu in one sitting, but you can be as lazy as you want. We started off at 1pm with a selection of bread and 4 kinds of butter and left at 5 pm only because we had a movie booked for later.
Apparently, Tresind doesn’t believe in a Drinks Menu, in fact, the only ask for your favorite fruits & what mood you are going for. It may seem weird but the experienced Drinks mixologist comes up with extremely amazing & refreshing drinks.
Truth be told, the never ending list of appetizers do leave you considerably full and when the actual main course arrive, you are staring blankly at the attendant. One thing, I’ve learned is, not to over eat any item, because the next best thing is around the corner. The Delhiite in me, just couldn’t get over the cold spicy Dahi Bhalla served with nitrogen power and the unique Waffle Dosa concept baffled me to my very core.
Hand’s down the entire menu is InstaWorthy, at times, I had to make the tough call between clicking pictures and enjoying the flavors, without any regrets, I selected the latter.
As we went ahead to the main course, you get a palate cleanser, Strawberry Murabba, and another feast on your way. From family picnic box filled served in tiffin boxes to popular demand of Punjabi’s – Sarson Ka Saag Aur Makki Ki Roti, everything is a trip down my favorite childhood memories.
Lastly, to roll down the final curtains, they dropped a giant bomb, literally. A massive bomb filled with all types of chocolate goodness & peanut butter awesomeness. Bewildered by the entire menu, we bid our goodbyes, promising to return very soon with my whole family.
Verdict: Though my love for Friday Brunches has increased tremendously, I believe they are often overpriced since people like me aren’t cut off for buffets and regretting at dinner. However, as the entire menu is served personally to you, with a relevant gap of 10-15mins, your stomach gets a nice little break to digest after every course. I won’t mind paying the amount for a 5-hour lunch, yes you read it right, reach at the doors exactly at 12 to enjoy the most of the menu.
I was forever a daydreamer, hosting make-believe fancy tea parties for my soft toys and troubling my mom to bring down those elegant china dishes and order miniature cupcakes and cookies, pretending to be a royal princess. Though I’m a messy eater and surely not sophisticated enough for regal ballroom parties, I just had to jump on the chance to bring back those childhood memories with Palace Downtown’s BVLGARI Afternoon Garden Tea Party.
Relaxing and quiet, with live music accompaniment in the background. The lush Garden of Palace Downtown with a view of the waterfront and beautiful white aesthetics on the tables exudes an elegant sophisticated charm the moment you step in. My date for the afternoon was Momna from @mytasteperspective, a darling to share some of here travel stories with me while we munched on some truly satisfying pieces.
We began our high tea set with a choice of tea or coffee for each of us. After serving us our chosen beverages fruity green tea for me), we were then presented with the highlight of the afternoon – an ornate 3-tiered tray with colorful and delectable sweet and savory snacks. So what did we have? Take a deep breath and unbuckle your belt …
Overall, The Hi Tea Garden party is somewhere you could certainly impress your girlfriends at. Of course, this is perfect for a baby or bridal showers, nice catch-up with close friends, have a girly session or just to enjoy the water dance too. One thing to note is that there are relatively few tables, so we really loved the privacy too!
Details Day: Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday in March Timing: 1pm to 4pm Price: AED 200 per person inclusive of unlimited tea infusions and coffee; AED 300 per person inclusive of unlimited juniper beverages; AED 550 per person inclusive of unlimited premium bubbly.
Yes! I’m often offered free food. Yes! I’ve gained weight during the past one year. And Yes! I love trying out new Restaurants.
Food blogging – an insane delicious adventure discovering some of the best in Dubai, probably some perfect fits for foodies which deserve a shootout. I surely have ticked off ‘Try new cuisines’from my bucket list. I travel to the gist of Middle East fields with Authentic Arabic feasts to legendary Mughlai dishes of Northen India, from artistic Chinese Supper to fascinating seafood delicacies, but always falling back to my home country’s traditional recipes, I can never deny my soft corner for spicy Indian treats.
So for this post, I thought of a little throwback to my favorite eatery in Dubai, a quick guide to Dubai’s best. A list of my 5 top go-to spots while a guest is in town or a deluxe dinner for special occasions in on the agenda.

2. Nom Nom Asia
Cost: AED 125 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: Chinese, Thai, Asian
Nom Nom Asia, a Cafe style Asian restaurant inspired by South-East Asian street food culture, serving both Chinese & Thai. The graffiti walls & quirky hashtag chopstick logos does catch your eye instantly. The Menu is compact yet a bit complicated offering over 108 dishes in veg, chicken, fish, prawn, tofu & beef. The best feature about them would surely be their affordable prices. You could easily eat your heart out under 100 AED with such exceptional portions. This restaurant is perfect for takeouts or delivery too.
Also, recently they launched a beautiful heartfeltinitiative, where Nom Nom Asia feeds a free meal to unemployed individuals at their Karama Branch.
Anyone who knows me will know how overly obsessed I am with pizza. With so many Pizza outlets, why this particular one? In terms of cost, Pizza Expressstands right in the middle junction. The menu has an array of new and interesting flavors every season, as well as exciting new dessert options which deserve a try. Coupled with a smooth and classy soundtrack delivered daily from our world class musicians, An elegant and intimate venue with an upbeat atmosphere – the New Jazz@PizzaExpresscovers up all love doves.
Revolving around thewild fondue experience, ‘The Melting Pot’ offers a premium fondue cooking styles and a variety of unique entrees, salads, and indulgent desserts. Honestly, the whole concept of sharing the hot fondue with others on the table is so intriguing & beautifully enhances your entire meal. This is one restaurant which I’ve gone back over and over again too. Plus, the super-hyped‘Big Night Out’offer basically a four-course meal for two only for AED 349 is worth every penny.
Cost: AED 500 for two people (approx.)
Cuisines: Indian; Molecular Gastronomy
If you would like to really impress someone, Tresind’s unique concept & fine dining approach sets the mood for you. Executive Chef Himanshu Saini explores a new take on some of the most popular Indian street & traditional dishes with Molecular Gastronomic presentationwhile the helpful staff aids your understanding of what’s going on along the cloudy Nitrogen gameplay. Honestly, each dish served at this restaurant had thumbs up from me and my friends. Though it comes down to a pricey range, I believe a little extravaganza is always good at occasions.
A diamond is just a piece of charcoal that shined exceptionally well in the dark nights. Just like Henry Kissinger said, I found a jewel in the isolated roads of Sharjah University. Going by the Instagram handle @flavors_of_the_world_uae fully justify its name to perfection. Rabiee Al Shaay Cafe is a hidden gem yet a popular buzz in the food blogging community with it’s one of a kinda sushi dessert rolls and finger licking presentations. Click here for the menu and prices.
Though the seating area is very compact and limited, the rich menu makes up for the shortage with tempting delicacies, you can’t deny. For drinks, I had their cult favourite Passion fruit mojito and my plus one settled for a fascinating twist to Kiwi lime mojito. The latter was a bit too tangy for my liking but the former was a definite winner.
While we enjoyed our vibrant drinks, the popular appetisers were served hot!! Dynamite shrimps and Chicken Wings, both came with an interesting taste like never before. Of course, nothing can beat the almighty Dynamite shrimps of Pf Changs, but this could give them a tough fight especially with their affordable prices. The chicken wings were not up to my liking, it had a bit too much soy sauce.
For mains, we got their Pink Chicken pasta which was supposed to give a taste of jalapenos, creamy tomato sauce and red peppers. Although the dish was decent, it did not match up to what was mentioned on the menu. On the positive side, one look and I knew I had to get their Cheetohs sliders, one bite and I knew SALT is no longer my favourite spot.
A) The prices are cheaper B) The taste is excellent C )It has Cheetohs
The moment of desserts. I’m always intrigued with a live cooking demonstration, the inner child in me finds it enticing and wildly fascinating but this time I was numb observing the chef master the art of crepes and sushi in one beautiful giant chocolaty delight. As he poured the chocolaty goodness over the brownie rolled in crepe and cut into bite size sushi-like pieces, my jaw dropped and my eyes were lit like a baby.
Finally, the moment of truth, one bite of this dessert and you know a connected is developed and you are coming back to this small eatery, in fact, this will be a talk topic among your friends and Instagram feed.
Overall, it is a Winner in my dictionary with its Instagram-worthymenu and affordable prices. And if you study somewhere near or work across the street, I surely recommended this exciting takeaway joint.
Living in UAE, you are overthrown by alternatives for Friday Plans particularly the options available for lavish brunch with family. Yet, when I received an invite from Downtown Palace, I was downright excited! Why may you ask? Though 21 years in UAE, it was my very first time visiting Traditional Arabic Architectural Palace known for its Award Wining luxurious Middle Eastern themes.
As we entered through the beautiful royal doors, the sumptuous spread at Ewaan left us astonished as ever. The buffet was mainly filled with over 200+ Arabic & Oriental dishes with live cooking stations. Brunch begins at 1pm and is usually jam packed with the hotel guests as well as the residents of UAE. Despite this being one of the busiest brunches that we have attended, the tables were not crammed together so we felt like we had a little bit of space and privacy amongst our dining group.
This mega-brunch is all about the live cooking stations shockingly serving everything a meat lover wants, from Chicken to Duck, Fish, Lobsters, Veal & beef also a Sushi station you had it all under one roof. You are definitely spoiled with countless choices of meat.
The cooking station continuously grilled meat as per your liking & served it as hot! With various sauces & dips to try with. Focusing on the Arabic Traditions, the food flavours were mild but they did offer chilli sauce for the Indian Spice lovers too. The Pasta station has always been my favourite & at this particular one, I asked the cook to add veal on to my pink pasta sauce which turned out to be a perfect combination.
You know it's a big hot shot restaurant when the buffet includes the finest artisan selection of cheese & bread. After a…
Venturing into the dessert section, you will be left delighted with Arabic sweets particularly the popular Umm Ali. Another surprise for the inner child in you would be the live cotton candy station, chocolate fondue & crepes. Plus, you can help yourself to mini modern dessert like chocolate, mango mouse & all flavours of cheesecakes.
Before making your way out do ensure that you stop by the outside terrace for outstanding views of their swimming pool – the perfect way to end such a luxurious brunch.
With lots of munching & crunching done on my Food House column over the past one year, my gourmet adventure at melting pot is hands down a treat to foodie soul. Neither too hot shot classy scene, nor too melodramatic boring ambience, Melting Pot at the quirky Box Park Dubai is my go to place to host an affordable delightful evening for any guest. It’s the perfect place for a girl’s night out, Friday family brunch or Thursday evening date, basically any kind of celebration.
Click here to read all about its warm ambience, spacious location & friendly service written on my previous review.
Last time my biggest regret was to skip their main entree, so we had to try Melting Pot is famous for its super-hyped ‘Big Night Out’, basically a four-course meal for two only for AED 349: cheese fondue, salad, meat, and dessert which we were really excited to try out . If you have few hours to spare & love to have a laid back dining with friends this is the option to go.
Melting Pot has a collection of Mocktails & Fresh Smoothies. While I got a chocolatey sweet Yin & Yang Martini, my plus one had her heart set on a refreshing glass of Blackberry Sage Lemonade, which came with a sweet-sour kick.
We started off our international fondue experience, with a two serving of their Classic Alpine Swiss Cheese, A crazy combination of three different cheese blended with non-alcoholic white wine, fresh garlic & nutmeg.Though, I have to admit the fiery salsa Fiesta Cheese Fondue is still my favourite especially with apples, the garlicky taste to this fondue brings an interesting Italian vibe to the table.
Salads and I are not the best of friends, but the crunchy Melting Pot House Salad served with their juicy signature dressing was a tempting treat for my taste buds. Both of us loved the huge salad. Highly Recommended! And do not let the waiter take away the cheese fondue, dip some of these green goodness into the melting cheese, believe me, it might look and sound weird but the whole salad and the flavours come together beautifully.
As we started to finish our salad, our attendant brought our next course, we chose to use seasoned court bouillon to cook our meat! Meats and vegetables included lobster, teriyaki-marinated sirloin, white shrimp, marinated breast of chicken, spicy beef steaks, mushrooms, a spinach cheese filling, and a variety of sauces – bleu cheese, spicy cocktail, light mustard sauce, plumb sweet-and-sour and teriyaki. Our attendant was super sweet & gave us complete instructions on how to cook our meal, and it was such a fun experience.
For dessert, we indulged in individual servings of Mint Chocolate Chip Fondue & Yin and Yang fondue which was a mix of Milk & White Chocolate. It was served with all sorts of wonderful things to dip into the fondue pot: brownies, sponge cake, strawberries, bananas, marshmallows. They got us refills of cakes too, which was extra sweet of them.
The Melting Pot is a very relaxed, peaceful and romantic atmosphere. You are not rushed — which is a good thing — because you cannot eat all that delicious food quickly. Plus you’ll want to savour it! t gives you lots of time to talk to the person you’re with and relax. The fondue is amazing and with multiple courses, you really get your money’s worth.
